We were lucky to catch up with Marilene Tentomas recently and have shared our conversation below.

Marilene, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?

In my experience, in order become a successful female business owner or entrepreneur you certainly will need a solid set of core skills that will allow you to actually do the work.

Resilience and optimism have always been my top 2 skills because being able to think positively is a must for any entrepreneur and to remain positive even when things can get difficult in business has been my asset in business.

Be Resilient
Hang in there. Be tough. That doesn’t mean be miserable, it doesn’t mean be aggressive, but it means really developing the skill to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again. The biggest setbacks are the best learning lessons as an entrepreneur.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Health and wellness fascinates me; finding simple, effortless & safe ways to achieving this is my passion, that in 2011, I travelled around the globe hoping to discover a new trend for non-surgical weight loss procedures. I had noticed then that many young women were choosing invasive surgeries and this inspired me to develop Slimwave, which has become the number one sought after, non-invasive way to eliminate excessive body weight and stubborn fat. I recently launched CelluSkin that has gained popularity this year for cellulite removal and skin tightening, in which we are seeing great results with this new innovative procedure called Acoustic Wave Technology.

What I truly love about the Slimwave and CelluSkin brand and how we differ from others, is that the services are affordable, safe, effective with no negative side effects. I have developed a holistic protocol with Slimwave using Muscle stimulation and infrared technology to detoxify the body from the inside out, burn fat and build muscle allowing clients to achieve fitness goals that otherwise remain out of reach. In the health and beauty industry there is a lot of competitiveness and aggressive sales approach that we do not follow. We are a group of women that believe in a softer more compassionate approach who care about seeing clients thrive in this industry, it is not just about sales, but a human experience that we get involved in.

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.

My partner Annie Claude worked as a sales representative and trainer in my company for many years and I was so appreciating of her hard work ethic, dedication, professionalism and honesty that I had approached her to become 50/50 partners in a new business venture and it was the best decision I ever made. A partner is like a marriage and finding the right fit takes time, and I believe if an employee is showing great promise and their values aligns with yours, then why not? For myself, I am grateful to have a woman like Annie Claude who stands next to me in business and we support each other 100 percent.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Balancing business and family life :

This is a common problem woman face and I still struggle with finding the perfect balance. As a female and a mother, I think we have extra challenges in life and business—things that men don’t normally have to face or think about when it comes to having a career.

There will be days that I feel like I am winning as a mom and wife and others days I feel like my work life is demanding more of my time.

I want my daughter to look at me and feel proud and not resent my accomplishments, so finding a balance that works best for your family and work will create a more harmonious environment for everyone, especially those little humans looking to us for direction.
