Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marietta Cohen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Marietta, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
My journey was a very long and unclear process. I always knew that I wanted to be an artist, but I decided to study textile design instead. After raising my children, I decided that now was the time to pursue my dream. I regret a little bit that I waited for so long, but I guess I wasn’t ready back then.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Marietta Cohen, and I am a full-time artist who enjoys every minute of it. I’ve always been a creative and visual person. I find beauty in everything and I love to share it with my clients through my paintings. I create with watercolors and acrylics. I think it is very important to bring joy and smiles to people’s faces. It is also my goal for the paintings I create to brighten any space and bring cheerfulness to everyone around. There is no subject that I stay away from if it can bring happiness to others.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have attended many street art festivals since becoming an artist. For one year, I hardly sold anything, and sometimes I sold nothing at all. Imagine the frustration this caused me and my loved ones. It’s important in a situation like that not to give up, even if you have doubts about whether you can make it. I did, and I believe that you can too. If I can stay positive after those struggles, so can you.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I am so happy to have this opportunity to share my experiences with others who also love their creative passions. I personally find it so rewarding when someone tells me how inspired they are by my art, whether they buy a piece or simply get to look at it.
