We recently connected with Mariella Montoya and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariella, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
My hero in life is my mother followed by sister and brother. They all three are my three musketeers who will do anything to protect me. We are a pretty close family and through the years we have learned to support each other’s dream regardless of what it consist of. When i told my family i was starting my own photography business i had to tell them it was more of a thing like a hobby. My mother usually will say please as long as you finish school you can do whatever you want. My little sister will never judge me she will just cheer me up and my twin he will tell me to always be careful and and watch out for scams.! With that super team behind me i was all ser to start ny first gigs and so i did it! I remember the first time i showed my first photoshoot to my mother she was amazed that i took those pictures. And that encouraged me to keep going!
Mariella, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Im a lifestyle photographer located in Florida. In 2016 i was able to purchase my first equipment and ever since then ive been growing. In 3017 i decided to officially start my business with Ella Montoya Photography which later transitioned into Ella Lifestyle Photography. The reason for the change wasn’t that simple. At the beginning of my career i was focused On photographing couples only. But later on i noticed that it was the candid moments of each session that make me satisfied. There fore i decided to generalize my busses and welcome different markets: kids photography, family, weddings, events, etc.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When i first started social media was powerful enough to promote my business but only through ads. Now these days you have video content for a minute and that’s all you need. Unfortunately i wasnt aware of all the tools i had available when i first started so i decided to take a class in content marketing which got me certified for good. After that i had a complete different POV. From then I knew how, when and who to promote my business.
Even though i already had a bachelors degree i knew i wanted more so studying something much more deep and specific open me so many opportunities and connections.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe in order to keep professionalism in my industry i had been able to show transparency, efficiency and communication. Wether if it was direct conversation with another colleague or with a client, i have always keep my style professional. Although i like to add a fun environment to it.
