We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marie Wilde. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marie below.
Marie , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Absolutely not. I wouldn’t change a thing about when I started my creative career. Who I am in this present moment is exactly who I need to be to bring my goals to fruition. The emotional, mental, and spiritual growth I’ve experienced has been crucial for this stage in my career. My journey began at age 8 when I first dreamed of becoming an actress. I’d scour the internet for pageants, plays, and auditions—anything to get started because I had a strong nudge to do it. I even managed to speak with a casting office, where a kind woman offered me advice. But looking back, I realize those early blockages were blessings in disguises.
Not breaking into acting at such a young age allowed me to experience a relatively normal childhood and adolescence.
Navigating the intense emotions of adolescence without the added pressure of an acting career was crucial for my personal growth. The entertainment industry can be brutal, especially for young people. Starting later protected me from potential negative impacts on my self-image and worth during those formative years. Also, the industry is full of spontaneity and rejection. Facing these challenges as an adult, with a more developed sense of self, has made me more resilient.
Beginning my acting career in adulthood has been a blessing. I’ve developed a newfound confidence,
I have a clearer understanding of myself and my career goals, and I’m better equipped to handle the challenges and pressures of the industry.
Even when I first started as an adult, I wasn’t as ready as I am now. Each experience and setback has prepared me for where and who I am today.
I don’t wish I had started earlier. The journey that led me here—with all its twists and turns—happened in perfect timing. It’s shaped me into the creator and woman I am today.
Marie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an actress! My professional journey began when I was scouted during a touring show. This pivotal moment launched my career as I pivoted into film. After some initial bookings, I secured representation in my first year of acting. Since then, I’ve built my career by doing indie and short films. I’m most proud of my recent nomination for best actress. This booking actually came after a year without work, and it’s our third nomination at a film festival. I couldn’t be more proud of everyone involved; it’s amazing to be recognized for the hard work we’ve put into this story.
What I want people to know about my brand are the dualities within me. It’s very similar to my style of acting, which ranges from serious to light-hearted roles. The Marie side of me perseveres, is dedicated, and is serious about delivering the best product. Then there’s the Wilde side, which is free-spirited, spontaneous, and loves to play. I dance between both parts of myself as I maneuver through my career. I’m grateful to know which aspect is necessary for each occasion.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience over two years online, but what really catapulted my presence was a viral video of me in class. I was portraying a bad actor, and some people even thought it was real. My initial reaction was a surprised “Oh?” which quickly turned into an amused “Ohhh!” I took it as a compliment—after quickly clarifying, of course, haha. Since then, I’ve been gaining new supporters and have cultivated a beautiful community of people who cheer me on and encourage me. It’s especially heartwarming when aspiring actors reach out to tell me I inspire them and seek advice. I’m overjoyed to help because that’s something I craved when I was coming up, so being that resource for others fills me with gratitude.
For those just starting out, my advice would be not to force your content. Experiment with different approaches to discover what you enjoy most and what gives most feedback. Keep uploading consistently because it gradually builds into something meaningful. Have patience—eventually, your crowd will find you and stick around.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I used to allow life to happen to me; I didn’t know I had a choice, so I was working jobs I didn’t care for and coasting through life, but I was unfulfilled. I had gotten fed up with that way of living, so I started working towards different habits and pursuing acting. I was in a job where I wasn’t satisfied and felt I didn’t belong. I had a tugging feeling to go into acting instead, so after sitting with that feeling for a while, I decided to just leave. I whirled out of there! I chose myself that day and never looked back.
