Marie , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

How I learned to be a creator was really, just a process of understanding. Being a creator was more of a factor in expressing myself using various apps. Being a creator also allowed me to brainstorm ideas and develop strategies to implement them. Knowing what I know now, there is no faster way of speeding the learning process because if you speed up the process you won’t learn the foundation. Sure, videos can go viral in an instant and change your life, but you want to make a lasting impact and not be forgotten over just going viral and not having anything to back it up. Some skills that I think were most essential are planning, understanding the craft, figuring out a schedule that works in order to film or create, also patience. When I think about obstacles, I always take them as a way of improvement or a way to go back and figure out what went wrong and how I can fix it. So, when an obstacle becomes present, I embrace it because it’s a new challenge it’s a new way to learn more.

Marie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

For those who may not know who I am, Hello! my name is Marie Mercedes, I am 24 years old, a master’s student at the University of Florida, and I am a Content Creator. When I first started content creation, I didn’t think much of it, I graduated with my bachelor’s in Communication, and I wanted to do more. at that time Tik Tok was being utilized a lot, so I downloaded the app one day and said to myself, this can be an outlet to express myself but also entertain others. I truly didn’t think anything of it. Until months went by and I enjoyed it. I kept posting my videos 3 times a day, and soon after I gained a following, and the views kept coming in. So, so I decided why not become a content creator, soon I started to work with the brand and created videos for clients to use for their social pages. It truly allowed me to explore and continue to grow in my creativity. What I am most proud of is the experience you learn while doing this but I’m also proud that one of my most recent videos reached 1.2 million views. it was my first milestone that reaching such an audience. I love everything that I do, whether that is communicating with my followers, or even working with brands and creating a solid bond.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creator was just seeing how much your videos mean to someone, Ive had people comment or send me a message saying how much my videos make their days, or that Ive inspired them to create because of watching my videos. So, I think that’s the most rewarding part.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

The way I built my audience on social media was to be myself. For each video I create I’m 100 percent me, I let my personality shine. I also built my audience to see that it’s okay to have fun and to just enjoy the process. Some advice that I can give to others who are building a social media presence is to understand what this is exactly but to also have fun. The process may take a while but it is the outcome that makes it all worth it.
