We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marie Humble a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
THERE IS BEAUTY AMONGST THE CHAOS…
A photograph is a moment frozen in time for you to look back on & cherish for a lifetime. I started my business with the mission to capture life’s moments and all of its imperfections. What you remember when you look back at your photographs – whether it makes you laugh or cry – is the moment you cherish.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My passion for photography stemmed from a lifelong obsession with freezing moments in time – since a young age – I did not go anywhere without a camera. As I got older – I was gifted a DSLR camera & started asking friends & family to let me take their photos. I fell in love all over again. I decided to take some courses & my passion just kept growing. I turned my hobby into an official business December 2022 and went full time in September of 2024.
As a photographer, I capture all of life’s special moments from maternity to newborn, family to graduating seniors and boudoir.
Despite the highly competitive nature of this industry, I feel what sets me apart is my ability to relate to my clients and make them feel comfortable so they can relax and enjoy the moment while getting beautiful images they can treasure for years to come.
I am so proud of how I have turned this once hobby into a successful business. Being able to serve my clients and provide a service & experience they will want to return for is what I love about my job.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
YES! I recently turned this side hustle into my full time career as of September 2024.
My parents purchased me my first DSLR camera in 2017 when I had decided that the current career I was in was not working – I needed to go back to a lower paying job I had been at previously. I needed something to supplement the loss of income from that job switch. Because of my love for photography – I figured – why not try to start this up as an on the side gig. I took some courses & found some friends/family to practice on and then I started to charge just small amounts. As I continued to learn & take more classes – my skills improved & more people started reaching out to me. Before I knew it I was at the point where I felt I needed to make this an official business. So I started my LLC in December of 2022. 2023 proved to be a turning point – at this time I was doing in-home daycare but was just not happy. My husband & I decided that it was time to be done with daycare & focus more on photography. Summer of 2023 we started the build of my home studio – attached to the back of our garage. This was completed November of 2023 at which time I went down to doing only part-time daycare with just one family. And as of September 2024 – all of my kids were officially in school full time & I was completely done with daycare & my photo business was now my full time career & it has been absolutely AMAZING. I am busier than I ever dreamed I would be.
My biggest milestones were starting my LLC, building the studio & lastly taking the leap by quitting daycare completely & making this my full time career.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is the gift my craft gives to others. But also the flexibility & creative outlet it gives me. I can tweak my own style as I see fit❤️.
