We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marie-Claire Quartemont. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marie-Claire below.
Marie-Claire, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
A huge risk I took in my Independent Artist career recently was launching a virtual fundraiser concert called ‘A Moment With MARICLR’. The goal was to pay off the rest of my school debt, so that I can start to pour into my music career and put out more music instead of worrying about paying off my debt. It was a really well done, 6-song, live recording that aired internationally on a virtual venue called ‘Momenthouse’. This was a huge FINANCIAL risk for me, because I invested my own money into the project believing I would see a return on my investment. Great news is that it aired a little over a month ago now, and we have raised over $11,000. The goal is $20,000, so it is a huge accomplishment and I am really believing for the rest to be raised as well. I can’t wait to see how God is going to outdo Himself.

Marie-Claire, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My artist name is MARICLR, and I am a follower of Jesus that is really passionate about making R&B/Soul music that encourages people and shares the love of God. I have been singing my whole entire life and have always dreamt of singing in front of thousands of people and making an impact on them that outlives the show. I had given up that dream until God showed me how my gifting’s were truly to be used in a great way.
I really believe that I have started to make a difference here in Nashville, since moving here in 2019. At my shows, I usually get to connect with people on a really intimate level. I get to share my journey of faith and share the struggles with which I get to encourage others.
I am most proud of my most recent project, where I got to share my released and unreleased music with the world through my creative project ‘A Moment With MARICLR’. It was wonderful to tell more of my story and express myself in that way.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing about being an artist is definitely getting to see the impact that my music has on people. The best feeling in the world is honestly when people reach out and tell that my songs have given them hope, or gotten them out of a dark state. That is really my favorite thing. Another thing that is SUPER encouraging is the people I get to impact in person at my shows. My favorite part is getting to chat, pray, and encourage people at merch table after I play. There’s usually a lot of tears, needs, and laughter involved and it FILLS me up knowing I’m leaving an impact bigger than myself.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My story of getting to Nashville and ACTUALLY staying is something that really illustrates resilience in my life. I moved to Nashville in January 2019 based off of faith, a whole lot of prayer, and the fact that I was fully funded to attend Belmont University. That is a whole miracle because I didn’t have money to go to college, and so my friends and I came together and we fundraised my tuition. Moving here, I had a single bedroom for exactly a month and I just prayed that everything would go well. I did not know one person here or what I was really getting myself into. There were a lot of nights of literal tears on my guitar and just praying that God would not leave me where He called me. Little to say, it took a lot of resilience to not turn right around and give up CONSTANTLY, but with every day and every stranger I met, Nashville started to feel like home.
Here I am, three years later, with a thriving community, a graduate of the Songwriting program at Belmont, and able to do my music full-time with just a remote job part-time. I am BLESSED to say the least. I have been able to sing with legends like Cece Winans at arenas and stadiums and I am absolutely floored by how quickly God works when you give Him your life and your whole heart.
