Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maricar Melo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Maricar, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
“Believe in your natural Beauty” Any woman who believes in the nature of her beauty (interior and exterior) can conquer the world
Maricar, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi! My name is Maricar Melo and I am Accountant, Makeup Artist and CEO of Cavana Beauty Cosmetics. I used to work as accountant in venezuela for many years but after I moved to Miami and I had to start over. I came to USA in 2014 to expend valentine’s day with my husband but destiny definitely had another plan for us and we had to stay, leave everything in venezuela and start from scratch.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I remember that after living a year in Miami I began to feel really alone and sad, I used to sit on the washing machine for hours not wanting to do anything at all, but I started watching makeup videos on youtube and tried to do makeup like youtubers did and a necessity and a need arose, I wanted to learn how to do my makeup well, so I decided to learn about makeup and I fell in love with this world. I regained the will to live and move on. I mean, today I can say that makeup saved my life. After many studies I became a professional makeup artist and turned my passion into my way of life and then in 2020 I decided to create a Eyelashes line which vary in sizes and forms ideal for all different styles, occasions or shape of eyes perfect to reuse up to 10 times with the proper care. Also, during pandemic I discovered the slogan of my company “Believe in your natural Beauty” Which means that makeup can enhance your natural beauty, it’s not just something superficial. I remember that I put it to the test during the pandemic, I asked a friend who was in low mood to get ready and put on makeup no matter if she was at home and she did it and the days that she put on makeup she felt better, this one for me proved that makeup can connect you with your beauty and make you feel better.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Sometimes from the worst moments new paths arise, new people, new circumstances that will make you grow
