We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Maribel Gomez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Maribel, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?

Am I happy with my creative work? yes very happy, the art of creating something that we imagine or think gives me the tools to develop my creativity and that is very satisfying, even more so if for that creativity I make a living and I am happy. I have worked in many jobs before but I do not miss them, I prefer to fight and continue striving for my company, which in the end is the legacy that I will leave to my daughters in the future.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Mary Balloons Deco & Arts is a family business with 5 years in the market and a physical store located in the beautiful city of Altamonte Springs.

Our story begins in March 2017 in search of being able to bring a livelihood to my home with a schedule that allows me not to leave my daughters alone for many time.
I started working making figures with balloons in restaurants and earning for tips every weekend 12, 14 and even 16 hours in a row without resting.

This allowed me to be absent from my home for hours but it agreed with my husband’s schedule to take turns at home and not neglect our daughters, that’s why I started and why, in the inductive course with my boss of 20 people the only one who followed was me , all the other people left when they heard that we would win for tips and I was surprised with the figure that he was creating while explaining the work, the balloons impressed me and I saw the creation as an art.

Officially Mary Balloons was born in October 2018 with a simple Instagram account, there it offered a twisting service for parties but nothing big or decorations, it was later thanks to the pandemic that everything went online and I was able to train myself to be able to increase the products of my company like this I started to offer arches, garlands, balloons bouquet and Mary Balloons started to grow.
In November 2021 we opened the doors of our beautiful balloon store, accessories and services for parties for my community, we represent a solution in many ways since for the first time there is a balloon store with a variety of brands in one place in Orlando. We also offer complete set-ups for parties, bouquets and everything you need to make an event unforgettable with quality and professionalism.

In addition to all this, we are the first store with tuftex balloons and Kalisan Balloons in Orlando that were previously obtained remotely , also we sell, qualatex, New Look, Anagram, Burton and Burton, Gemar , we rent and sell walls, numbers in wood or foam board , figures in foam board, we have balloons Class in our store and since July 2022 we became OFFICIAL DISTRIBUTORS OF THE CATTEX BALLOONS BRAND in Florida, a wonderful Italian brand of balloons with high quality and competitiveness.

You can come to our store and buy the balloons you need for your party and additionally we offer you recommendations for cake and sweets, sounds and lights, Dj, and very importantly we offer like in no other party store the service of being able to assemble the garland or the arch for you, depending on the case, if you don’t know how to do it with the Garland Grab and Go service, that is, we are the perfect solution to professionally decorate any event

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

I think my goal has always been and always will be to be at the forefront of current trends in balloon art. To the extent that we always train ourselves, learn every day, move forward with what is in trend and are always updated, we will offer diverse and original services to the consumer without remaining in the past or out of style. The secret is to always keep ourselves in constant preparation and study to be better every day.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

I come from a beautiful country called VENEZUELA , the immigration process is not an easy process to carry out, it entails a type of mourning for leaving behind your life, your things, your affections to seek a better future for your children. Not all of us are prepared to travel that difficult path where many times you wonder what I am doing here? Do I want to return to my land? … it is not easy, but, if it is what we choose to live and we are in a country as wonderful as the United States where there is always an opportunity to improve, where there is a future, where the laws work, where you find wonderful people who tend to you hand, that hard moment of breaking with the country that saw you born passes and look forward with hope and eyes fixed on the goal: TO BE BETTER EVERY DAY. That’s why today after winning for tips, with an account that no one followed on instagram I have my store and I grow every day… I’m blessed
