Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mariangela Parrodi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mariangela , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
With a background in Biomedical Science, I completed training as a Naturopath. I started working part-time from home because I had two young boys, which reduced my outgoings to a minimum. During my ten years working in pathology, I began to learn different healing modalities to heal my childhood anxiety and a workplace injury.
I loved the outcomes from the healing and practised on friends and my children, and they noticed the changes. My eldest son struggled with multiple chemical and food sensitivities, eczema, and asthma, and nearly died. My journey to heal him activated my powerful medical intuitive abilities, which I now use to support others.
At that time, I wanted to keep both aspects of my skills separate and to be seen as professional. I kept my transformational healing abilities in the closet because I was worried about others’ judgment. Realising that I had to bring all of my knowledge to treat a person holistically, so that I could resolve the underlying emotional issue that caused the illness and recalibrate the condition within the mind, body and spirit.
Marketing myself as a naturopath alone, felt limiting, but once I integrated healing through the sessions for those who were open to it, word of mouth began to build. My calendar became full of referrals within my local community.
I was meant to share all of my skills and learning with others by bringing them together, and then I became a magnet for the right people looking for my unique abilities.
Learning to integrate my Western knowledge and spirituality and bridge neuroscience with ancient wisdom has had profound quantum results.
As I have pivoted my business over the years, I also guide those in growing their heart-based businesses. My advice to professionals starting their business is to focus on building trust within their community. Trust is the cornerstone of success.
Share your personal journey and experiences transparently, creating a deeper connection with your clients. Maintain a consistent presence in your community, whether through regular local workshops, seminars, or events. Reliability builds trust over time. Encourage satisfied clients to share their positive experiences. Word of mouth referrals are a powerful tool in building credibility and trust. Use all of the skills you have developed during your life; this will help you stand out and be unique in the market. Your gifts are needed.
By integrating these strategies, you can create a strong foundation of trust with your clients, leading to a thriving and fulfilling practice.

Mariangela , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an award-winning alchemist, transformational medical intuitive healer, naturopath, wellness leader, author, teacher, spiritual coach, and shaman. #1 International best-seller of The Mystic Woman’s Compass.
In 1971, I escaped Chile with my parents, younger brother and grandfather, with nothing, due to the political instability. My parents taught me how to be resilient. Back then, with no welfare support, they had to find work quickly to feed their family. My father always had a side hustle, selling clocks and barometers he had fixed at the Sunday, trash and treasure market while working full-time. I noticed he would have a new idea, pivot, take action and try again.
With anxiety from leaving Chile and fear that there was no safe place, my immunity was weakened, and I had recurrent tonsillitis. As a teenager, I looked for alternatives, and tried different herbal remedies and meditation to heal, which made a difference. Even though I studied Biomedical Science and worked in the field for ten years, I really wanted to be a naturopath. I couldn’t afford to do it when I was younger, but after sitting at the microscope looking for infections, viruses and cancer cells, I thought I couldn’t let this dream die. I decided I didn’t want to keep doing this for another ten years, so I retrained to help women before they received a cancer diagnosis.
Learning is important to me as a perpetual student, as it provides new tools for better outcomes. I have integrated my Biomedical science background with naturopathy and the different healing modalities. In the process of practising my skills, I developed my style while trying to uncover the causes of my son’s severe, life-threatening sensitivities to foods and chemicals. When I uncovered how much ancestral trauma, I was carrying that affected my son, I accessed my shamanic abilities to heal the epigenetics that had passed down through the generations. He has been a gift, and pivotal in my growth as a transformational healer, which inspired me to write about my experience to help others with sensitive kids in my book – Alkymia’s Child (2013) and then I wrote a follow up book with different healing methods and systems – The Mystic Woman’s Compass (2023) which became an International best seller.
My resilience with over twenty years in practice is that I challenge my beliefs and identity. Finding the bridge between neuroscience and spirituality created deep transformation; I challenged that they could be combined. Challenging my negative belief that I was ‘not a writer’, unravelled as I just focused on writing one page at a time to finish the book. I knew if I could reach one person with my story, it would all be worth it. The commitment to the process shifted my identity, and I integrated another aspect of my hidden communication abilities that needed nurturing. I have evolved due to leaning into the growth edge and version of who I am becoming. Receiving intuitive aligned guidance for the next step, has helped me to pivot, take action and grow.
I am more than one facet, I am multifaceted and multi-gifted, and this is what I bring out in others- to reveal their brilliance and help them peel away the layers of limits they have denied about themselves. We all have our blind spots.
My brand- Alkymia, is a wellness and health business dedicated to empowering women to achieve optimal well-being through holistic health practices, and personalised wellness programs. Everything falls into place when they live from their brilliance: health, relationships, energy, creativity, balance between work and play, and the ability to live a meaningful life they LOVE.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
When I returned to Chile for the first time in 2007 to find my roots, visiting the sacred sites ignited a connection with my shamanic heritage. My South American trip helped to draw together different dormant facets. My mystical connection opened gateways to higher levels of wisdom, healing, and consciousness.
Everything is connected. When we are not connected to the earth, we become restless, compare ourselves to others, and don’t trust that we can create the future our heart desires. We can project our present reality fears into the future, and sabotage growth and opportunities.
Clearing the body, beliefs, and outdated experiences opens the future doors to new possibilities. My success has come from shifting my worries and judgements, the inherited patterns, and how I took on the collective energy from society that locked me into a box. As I broke through the restrictions, challenges, and fears, so much more became possible.
Through shamanic practices, I open the quantum field and clear the fragments, where I was stuck at different limiting experiences that sabotaged reaching my soul-aligned goals.
Some people chase dreams that are not theirs to follow. They give their power away to a person, path, or system that looks like a quick fix but doesn’t give them results that are in sync with their purpose.
When you connect to the Earth, the grounded guidance flows in, and you begin to trust the intuitive nudges from your heart, leading you in the right direction.
This connection to the Earth is more than just a physical grounding; it is a profound spiritual harmony that allows you to access inner wisdom and clarity. Through the whispers of nature, you can discern your true path and purpose. The Earth’s ancient wisdom and energy provide’s a guiding light, ensuring every step aligns with your soul journey.
This grounded guidance has led me through numerous transitions, ensuring I stay true to my calling while navigating life’s complexities. This has been instrumental in my ability to pivot and adapt when necessary, whether in business, career, or life.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Knowing when to pivot has been part of my ongoing learning. When I ignored my guidance, I felt that life was against me, leaving me unprepared for life’s challenges. I knew I should have left Pathology, when I was inspired to retrain in Naturopathy, but I hesitated for too long. My fear held me back, and I wondered, ‘Can I do it?’ My body was struggling from hours spent looking through the microscope daily, and I started to have nerve pain down my arm. I ignored it and wished it would disappear, until it became so bad that I had to take time off work.
Others in the department had dreams of pursuing different paths in life, yet they stayed with their unfulfilled aspirations.
I knew that if I didn’t leave that workplace, my arm would never heal. I realised that if I didn’t do it then, my dreams of helping others and making a difference would never happen.
My arm was showing me that this was no longer my path. I had to pivot into the unknown. Just take one step at a time and learn the skills needed to make it work. Eventually, my arm healed, and I could integrate my medical training with Naturopathy.
From that experience, when I am guided to explore new options, do something new and pivot into the scary unknown, I must do it, or my body will indicate with a signal of inflammation and pain. It has been a lesson in trusting my guidance and believing that I have the resilience to learn new information, especially when it relates to my passions.
When there is a contraction in my business, with fewer appointment bookings, I know an aspect is coming to an end, and I must prepare for the new phase. I understand that my transition to up-level will guide me in the right direction and contribute even more to me. This evolution has sustained my business for over twenty years.
