Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mariam Martinez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mariam, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The beauty world was always so entertaining and glamorous to me. I remember always being the friend in the group who would glam up my besties. If someone were to tell me I’d be pursuing the beauty industry as a career and gone this far back then, I wouldn’t have believed them. I’ve always worked in 9-5’s while still in college, I tried studying nursing for sometime because it was something secure but I couldn’t say it was something I loved. I always loved the thought of having my own beauty business but the risks on starting felt terrifying. Now after taking that risk and leaving behind my comfort I realized there’s nothing more I’d rather be doing than this. I thank god everyday he guided me where I needed to be, sure it was a terrifying long process in the beginning but nothing good comes easy. Sometimes the correct way feels hard and impossible until you take the step, once you are there, you realize you just gotta keep going!
Mariam, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My business is all about giving confidence and enhancing people’s beauty. I always like my clients to leave feeling 10xs better about themselves. I love that I get to be a friend, therapist, lash artist, hairstylist, & etc all at the same time! In my salon we do it all, it’s a all in one kinda of place for the ladies that need hair, lashes, makeup, nails etc all together. The passion I have for this craft I do everyday really shows in the amazing after results my clients see. Everyone one of my clients know I could never disappoint them, that’s why with every single one, I build a unbreakable bond!
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’m the beginning, starting your social media platform can feel impossible but it really all just ends up coming together. Remember quality over quantity, making sure your after service pictures are clear and clean instead of just posting to post. Offer mini grifts or discounts in your post, that catches people’s attention. send others your post and ask them to reshare and help out.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
To grow clientele the key is in offering professional service. Clients will stay with you until the end when they see how much you care for them and the service you give them. Checking on them after services to see how their experience was or how it’s going. They really just want to see you are always offering them the best service possible
