We recently connected with Mariah Wyatt and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariah, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Well the name of my business was inspired my kids. Being a mother is the most important to me. The C in classy comes from my kids names and the Monaè is my baby girl middle name.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the industry back in 2010 while I was out for the summer from college, but wasn’t really serious about it until 2021 when I attended LMAKEUP institute and after graduation I hit the ground running. There I learned just about everything that I had been missing. My skillset improved a lot since graduating from school. I use products such as toofaced, mac, makeup forever, morphe, etc.
What I am most proud of is no matter how many obstacles I have faced I have not given up on my dream on becoming a makeup artist.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I tend to listen to a lot of different podcasts by Jenny Tory, Sarah Jake’s Roberts, and jeelsa jaikaran
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
While in school I had to get rid of the thought that there was only one way to do makeup and that makeup was a one size fits all.
