We recently connected with Mariah Swigart and have shared our conversation below.
Mariah, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on is my Meaningful Topics Podcast. The idea behind it was simple: to create a space for conversations that go beyond just surface-level chatter and dive into topics that truly matter in life and business. As someone with a background in industrial psychology, I wanted to use the podcast to bring in experts, share insightful research, and explore ways people can live more purposefully and effectively in all areas of life.
The feedback I’ve received has been incredible—hearing from listeners who feel inspired or enlightened by the discussions makes it all so worthwhile. What makes it meaningful to me is that it aligns with my core mission: to help others connect, reflect, and grow. Every episode feels like an opportunity to foster growth, spark meaningful conversations, and leave my listeners with something they can apply to their lives.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hey, I’m Mariah Swigart! My background is a mix of teaching, psychology, and now marketing. I spent a few years in education before diving into industrial and organizational psychology, and today, I work as the Marketing Director at Bellair Golf Park and run Swigart Productions, where I focus on helping businesses grow with genuine marketing strategies.
I create content, manage social media, and work on event promotions and brand consulting, always trying to keep things authentic and backed by research. What I enjoy most is helping businesses connect with their audience in meaningful ways.
I’m especially proud of the conversations sparked through my Meaningful Topics podcast and the community around my social media pages, like @Ms.SwagGolf. For me, it’s all about building relationships and creating content that truly resonates. If you’re ever looking for marketing tips or just want to connect, feel free to reach out!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience has been a journey of trial and error, but the key for me was staying true to who I am and not taking myself too seriously. I went from focusing on just professional work to mixing in more personal content and sharing my learning experiences along the way. What I’ve realized is that people connect with real, unpolished content rather than perfect, curated posts. The more I embraced my imperfections, the more trust I built with my audience.
I started creating content that I was genuinely excited about and began bringing others along to create with me, making it more relational. I never wanted social media to isolate me, and I still do my best to avoid that. Social media can feel lonely at times, but I’ve learned to keep it fun and invite others into my creative space. The more I focused on collaboration and connecting with others, the more meaningful my content became and the stronger my community grew.
My advice for anyone starting out on social media is to find your unique voice and stay patient. Don’t compare yourself to others—what matters most is staying aligned with your purpose. Just show up, be yourself, and engage authentically. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and over time, the right audience will find you.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When I first started on social media, I treated it like a professional portfolio, mainly showcasing my work for brands. But soon enough, I realized there was this whole community out there interested in learning golf and looking for tips. That’s when I decided to pivot. I started creating content focused on helping others learn and grow, just like I was on my own journey. By sharing my love for golf, personal growth, and connecting with others, I found a way to give value through humor, authenticity, and real conversations. It wasn’t just about the polished, professional stuff anymore—it became about connecting with people.
