We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mariah Rose a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mariah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
This is a tough one because having taken a 5-year hiatus from music, I do think that I have a new grown love and appreciation for it but I also wish that I didn’t go without it for as long as I did. However, it made me realize how much I missed it once I started up the dream again and with having more life experiences to look back on and to write about in my own music, it made it worth it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The slogan I like to describe myself as is a having a New England heart and southern soul. I’m a 30-year-old country singer/songwriter from Massachusetts. I would describe my sound as having a pop and rock and roll edge with a country twang. I draw inspiration from contemporary country rock, old-school rock and roll and 90s country. I’ve been taking my listeners on a Phase of Love journey with my releases this year. I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be a musician. It was something that I always had a love for whether I was dancing and singing at home or singing in front of a larger crowd, it always brought me joy and peace. My proudest moment would have to be committing to doing music again after taking a 5-year hiatus. It was one of the scariest and proudest moments to date but I couldn’t be happier with myself for not letting fear hold me back.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I think for me, it’s about writing and sharing songs that connect to people the way that music connected to me. When I listen to certain songs, I can connect them with different experiences in my life and that’s all I want to do with my music. Whether you’re going through a breakup or looking back at how far you’ve come in your own journey, I just want to touch someone at a deeper level.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist has to be meeting new people and hearing how I’ve touched them with my music or it may even be a cover song from a gig and they loved how I shaped it into my own version. I’ve always loved meeting new people because you never know what you could learn from them or what they could learn from you.
