We were lucky to catch up with Mariah Kee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariah, thanks for joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I found my home in the keto community in 2020. I was at my heaviest weight and was recently diagnosed with PCOS that was accompanied along with insulin resistance that made loosing and even maintaining weight extremely difficult. It felt as though every step I took forward somehow put me two steps behind. I was in a vicious cycle of trying to become healthy all the while my body was fighting against me. I had heard of the keto diet and decided to give it a try and it turned out to be the greatest decision I’ve ever made.
When I first began my keto journey I found myself looking for a community of likeminded people who were on the same path as me. I knew that if I felt these emotions that surely there were others who did as well. I believe it is incredibly important to have a solid support system in place as you are navigating through your health journey because there are so many emotions that may come up that you may not have anticipated and days that are harder than others so having people in your corner who understand and support you is very valuable and oftentimes overlooked.
To me, keto was not only about loosing weight, it was about becoming the best version of myself. I wanted to heal my body with food and share my tips and tricks throughout the way to help as many people as I could and thus I created my account Keto.Mariah. I knew that I could succeed because I would have a community behind me who also wanted me to succeed and vice versa.

Mariah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the health and fitness world after loosing 30 pounds following a keto, low carb diet. During my own weight loss journey I learned many tips and tricks that were helpful to me that I now share with my audience. Often times I have people come to me looking for recipes of their favorite foods or encouragement. I firmly believe that you don’t have to restrict yourself while eating keto or low carb, life is all about balance. You can enjoy your favorite foods still, you just need to learn how to make it fit into your life!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience by engaging with others in my community and sharing content that was relatable to others in my niche. It’s a learning process, the algorithms are always changing, sometimes your content might not reach a lot of people but it might be so impactful to the ones it does reach.
My biggest piece of advice to those looking to build their audience is to just do it! If it’s something that you are passionate about take the risk, life is short do what makes you happy.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is simply to help others. I know what it feels like to feel like you are at your lowest and feel like there is nothing that can work for your body to help to I reach your goals, but I promise you that it can be attained. You just have to learn what works for you and your body!
