Hi Maria , thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Consistency, dedication and good customer service
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a professional real estate agent for over 14 yrs helping the community achieve their goal of purchasing,selling,downsizing, upgrading or investing in real estate, especially the Hispanic community. I’m dedicated to helping every client achieve their goal with as much information possible about the market but more importantly treating them like if they were my family in the process. My business has grown 💯 % through referrals due to the customer service I provide to my clients.
I have won multiple awards with the different brokers I have worked with including Rookie of the year, community hero, and one of the top agents in buyer’s closed transactions .
I am also affiliated with St Jude’s Children’s Hospital with a monthly donation and Childrens Medical center with every real estate closing. To me my children are the most important reason for being who I am and I’m dedicated to continue to contribute those organizations that help the less fortunate.
I am also author and writer of a book called A Business Called Life. In this book I give my experience as a mom and wife and how I have been able to accomplish what I have through a method called Win-Win mentality. I teach daily negotiating skills with children, partner, work, coworkers and health itself. I talk about my experience with domestic violence with my first marriage and how I was able to overcome adversity and turn into a successful real estate agent.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I am also a licensed cosmetologist and I started cutting hair after receiving my license in cosmetology 18 yrs ago. I had to work full time at a beauty salon long hours weekdays and most weekends. I decided to make a change and go from full time cosmetology to part time to be able to schedule my appointments with my clients after I became a licensed real estate agent. Maria Medrano owner of Taurus beauty salon on East Grand in Dallas saw the need I had to work part time while being 5 months pregnant and recently licensed as a realtor. I remember talking to Mary (Maria ) during my quick interview. She was cutting hair, every so often she would take a glance at me and ask me questions. She said she had never hired a female to work at her beauty salon/barber shop before. I don’t know if it was the need in me that she saw or she liked my firm questions and perseverance. She asked me to come in the next day with my equipment to cut hair. I was new to the salon and guys don’t really trust new hair dressers with their hair lol. Mary however kept insisting to them that I did know how to cut hair and was able to eventually establish my clientele at the shop. I was only working Thursday through Saturday which helped me pay my bills and real estate fees we have to pay. This work schedule helped me concentrate on building my real estate career and at the same time develop relationships with my clients in both cosmetology and real estate. I slowly was able pívot my career and leave the salon to become a full time realtor. I am forever grateful to Mary. Maria Medrano muchas gracias por la oportunidad de trabajar con usted. Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I believe the most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been my honesty and relationship building skills. Latinos are very heart warming. Treating them like family, with respect, honesty and educating them about the process has really helped me build my business which is 100 percent referral.
