Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maria Dolores Muñoz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Maria, thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parent’s immigrant story is similar to others, from assimilation to survival narratives yet the ability to hold onto their identities and cultures was critical to my success as a space holder and entrepreneur.
My mother and her sisters turned to ancestral medicine and traditional practices, including community healing / support. My father taught me the importance of connection to all living beings and the earth, with specific knowledge aligned to my sacred work today.
While I’ve been on a lifelong journey of self healing and ancestral reconnection, I’m very grateful to know my roots are deep and wise.
Maria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hola! I’m Maria Muñoz (she/her/ella) – energy healing practitioner and the founder of Light Owl Healing living on occupied Duwamish land, known as Seattle WA.
I work with Spirit as an energy & earth medicine practitioner, spiritual mentor and space holder, with focus on intuitively guided readings as I communicate between realms as a medium . I provide the support to assist in your connection to your own inner wisdom and universal intuitive abilities, to bring in a transformative experience aligned with your soul’s path.
I work within various modalities and tools including breath work, sound bowls, drumming, native Mexican traditional practices, and grief support.
Emotional healing is a focus of the spaces I hold and the energy healing support I provide. Each individual session is unique to the person’s needs and requests. Every group session also supports the collective themes showing up, with emphasis on community healing.
I hold myself accountable to set intentions to work with integrity and be guided by my healed ancestors and spirit guides, always for highest good for all involved..

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I’ve learned to hold myself and others accountable and as equals no matter which role I’m in, as a person facilitating healing or the individual being held. One of the difficult lessons in my own healing journey was when I had engaged in disempowering situations with mentors, teachers and community. As with other healing practices, spiritual and energetic guidance can allow an individual insight into others worlds during challenging life circumstances, at their most vulnerable moments and it requires integrity and self discipline to keep healthy boundaries and to maintain balance in the working relationship, similar to any therapy.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
While I may have always felt the pull to do spiritual and energy healing work, my career before this path was in software marketing and could not feel farther from this world I’m in today. I made a commitment years before I switched careers and was very fortunate to be able to make the transition when I did. I guess I’ve always had the heart of an entrepreneur and tech industry allowed me to channel that desire in different ways as the director of a global team, but it was clear that my empathetic attitude was limited in that environment. Beyond other factors, looking after my elderly parents had an impact on the timing to make the transition later than expected. However, I should call out that I helped my husband launch his own business in 2008, a decade before launching my own. Again, all while working full time in a corporate position, raising a family and caring for my parents. Looking back now, I would say it was life changing experience extended over years and it was a time of immense resilience.
