We recently connected with Maria Muñoz and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Maria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
When I was told about becoming a microblading artist, I was intrigued. I took my savings and invested in microblading training that took place in Jan 2022. I will not get into depth about my personal experience, but I knew there was so much more to learn.
My inital risk jumping from a nail technician/personal trainer was fueled by my clients, whom never seen me draw an eyebrow, yet trusted me to use them as models! Talk about inspiration!
Looking back, I am so glad I took the risk and invested in myself.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I dedicated the whole year of 2022 to training and learning/absorbing all that I could with regards to permanent cosmetics and tattooing. With the grace of God, in June 2022, I opened Studio XXII (a Permanent makeup and Tattoo) located in Live Oak, TX.
What sets me apart from the rest? Well, it has to be my dedication to making improvements in ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE. My artistic and creative mind have just helped me excel rapidly in this new field.
I am proud to say that I ended 2022 with 23 certifications in the Permanent Cosmetics industry. I am certified to do eyebrows, lips, eyeliner, scalp micropigmentation, saline tattoo removal, stretch mark camouflage, areola, tiny tattoos, and more!
Throughout it all I am blessed to be able to help others feel better about themselves.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media, whew … coming from an introvert this is thee best way (for me) to communicate with clients. Personally, i utilize social media as an online portfolio.
Posting my work, that I do on a daily, is considered content. I was blessed to receive a content creator invite from Instagram for my nail page, Subtle Designs by Saidy, so now there’s revenue and additional tax deductions that can be made by simply posting content.
There are advertisement opportunities to help build your page for followers and more exposure. For now, with my workload, I’m ok with not investing in advertisements.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funny, I was talking about this particular question with a client today.
The best advice I can give is, stop spending earnings on personal items! Who knows, business coaching may be in my future.
Take profits and invest into the current business or on to the next venture.
