We were lucky to catch up with Maria Gropp recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I was a child, I’ve always known. When I was seven I won a coloring contest at my elementary school. When I was thirteen I drew a mountain lion after a cow on my fathers camper, but my father (after years of having it displayed) painted over it. I also painted a flock of geese on my bedroom wall. I won a coloring contest, but I had to be there to collect the price.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I worked as a Civil Servant for a number years and everyone there said I was a good listener. I understood there problems.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I want people to see my work. I want those who see my work, see that I am creative. I went to the Colorado Institute Of Art, and The Denver Art Metro State.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I started I and remember just coping a picture from a post card onto a canvas and I sold it for $195.00. I want to sell my paintings, but usually a person dies and then their works become known. Keep the faith and no matter who views your work at least you gave it your best shot.
