Maria , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love for you to start by sharing your thoughts about the pros and cons of family businesses.

Owing a family small business can bring unique challenges . Maintaining a professional environment despite of personal relationships can be difficult but it is essential for the success of business . Family issues should never interfere with business decisions . I try teaching my kids all steps of business so they can be able to successfully take over in the future. Family members should work there way up and not take things for granted.

Iam Maria and I am the owner and founder of Mariapetit food boutique. We are specialized in meal plans . Our unique healthy coffee shop has unique treats, baked goods as well as food baskets and delicious natural fruit juices, açaí bowls and gluten free options . We take proud in serving healthier meal options to our community

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

In my opinion the best strategy for growing is thru partnerships.
I am always looking for other businesses and organizations that complement our products and services. We invest time building community relationships and believe that a good partnership should create value for all parts involved, creating opportunities and new customers.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Mariapetit started with a switch in my life. After years working as a process engineer in the big food industry. I decided to take my passion for baking and catering and turn into a business. To switch from working to others to having my own business was a big challenge. I had to overcome personal doubts as well as finding my own reasons to pursue a new career.
I had to also remodel the business after our start to reflect our mission. I felt like what I was trying to achieve was totally different from what my customers were looking for.
