We recently connected with Maria Farley and Illia Tumanov and have shared our conversation below.
Maria & Illia, appreciate you joining us today. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
Illia and I are thrilled to announce the opening of our second event and photo space in Fort Worth. IMSpaces is growing, we’ve just open our second location on 707 W Vickery Blvd suite 102A, Fort Worth. We started a year and a half ago with our first location on 1200 W Magnolia Ave where we host intimate events up to 40 people along with any kind of photo shoots. We are hourly rented space and some days, especially Saturdays, are sold out. We thought of all the needs of our customers as an extra formal seating option, dancing area, wi-fi and more capacity that’s how we came up with an idea of building bigger space but still keep it hourly rentable and affordable with furniture and decor included in rent. We were lucky to find a new space in the same area of FW, we love it and hope our customers will enjoy it as much as we do.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
IMSpaces are 2 unique but affordable spaces for rent with a luxurious and romantic feel. Ideal for baby shower, bridal shower, family gathering, family reunion, graduation, birthday, meeting, production, photo shoot, workshop, any kind of event. Makes a great canvas for all the ideas. We are here to minimize work of our clients. If you need a small cocktail party up to 40 people our space on W Magnolia is ready to accommodate your needs, if you need party up to 60 people with formal seating included – we have a space on W Vickery. Both places are not just a white or empty spaces, they already have design and the right mood. For all kind of production, we keep our spaces clean, well maintained and at least twice a year we place special flower/seasonal setups.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Illia and I met in San Diego, CA at the birthday party of our friend. I’ve just realized how funny is that we met at the party and 7 years later we have a business together hosting celebrations.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
We delivered both places 100% by ourselves. Starting from visualization, interior design, all the construction, digital strategy and marketing, you name it – we manufactured it by ourselves. Some skills we got during our business journey. We learned that if we want something to be “great”, not just “ok” we have to do it by ourselves.
All special flower and seasonal setups are one of a kind carefully curated by us also, so when you have a photo session in our space you can be 100% sure there are no other same arrangement somewhere else.
