We were lucky to catch up with Maria Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Since I was a little girl. Just hearing a beat drop I would just feel it and start doing my own thing. I always wanted to dance. I would reenact the dancers in the music videos. Having an uncle who did rap music and created his beats made it even better for me when it came to dancing. I tried out for the dance team in middle and high school, made the team and loved it. After I graduated from high school, dancing didn’t stop for me I kept at it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Maria, but I go by Meezy Montana. I’m a dancer, but I’ve also gotten into the model world. I think what got me into the dance industry was my passion being able to be on dance teams, performing with others and being recognized from that. A moment I’m proud of proud of was being able to perform on stage with my favorite rap artist Mykko Montana. I never thought in a million years I would be on the same stage as him dancing with/for him. He’s still one of my favorite artist, I think he’s a dope artist overall. I know everyone says what makes them different from everyone else, is not giving up; but I really do believe that’s what makes me different. I’m not going to give up my dream. At some point, some people do decide to just give up. I want to continue going further in my dancing and modeling career. I’m excited to see where my journey will take me.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of dancing is knowing I worked hard to get the dance down packed, because sometimes in rehearsals I get a little frustrated. But knowing I finally aced a routine and watching others proud to see the results and cheering you on is always a good feeling.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to be able to be seen more for me, by doing what I love and being able to be on other stages with more of my favorite artists
