Maria , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?

I think it’s such a priority to avoid burnout to take the vacations and take time for yourself to relax. I stumbled into my new side hustle as a travel agent as a way to save money on my personal travel and help others do the same.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’ve always loved doing hair and forming relationships with my clients beyond just being their hairstylist and it’s allowed me to open the door for my new business as a travel agent to connect with my clients on a different level.

We are always talking about places we want to go or upcoming travel plans and it just occurred to me that I could help others save money and make planning their vacations as stress free as possible, all while building this into a business that allows me to save money on travel, get paid to travel, have more time for my family and location/time freedom.

Being a mom there’s nothing I want more than to create memories with my family and experience other cultures by traveling and seeing the world together as a family, this opportunity is allowing me to do that and helping other moms with similar passions do the same.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

I’m still behind the chair and plan on doing hair for years to come but this pivot in career paths allows me to have the freedom to do both passions. Hair and travel on my own schedule.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Social media isn’t going anywhere and you really have to lean into it even if it’s out of your comfort zone.
It’s how I’ve built both of my businesses and gained new clients.

Showing up consistently is KEY. Your followers want to see you and feel connected with the person behind the gram. So showing your face, building a community, sharing your why all help build a REAL following.
