We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mari Weldon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mari below.
Mari, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
One of my first memories was posing for my Mom as she painted my portrait in oil paints. Was magical to me, to watch her look at subject matter and paint it thru her own interpretation…thru her own eyes. Plus watching the paint being squirted out of the tubes…the colors literally glowed like neon lights. (Realized when grew up I had synesthesia…when one sense is turned on, or heightened, all the other senses turn on at the same time).
She also taught others to paint in our childhood home, once the colors were on the canvas of any of her students…the colors continued to glow!
That ability to look at subject matter and recreate it, or paint whatever is in your soul at any given moment…is quite magical! Always drawn to create…to paint or draw or sculpt. Both parents and grandmother passed that ability down to me. There is a lot of artistic ability in our family.
At the same time I watched my Mom create on canvas…I begin to see souls or spirits in the big mirror that sat on top of our parents dresser. I would sit on the dresser and tap on the mirror…to get the souls on the other side of the mirror to answer me…I wanted to go inside the mirror and visit with them. There were ladies dressed in 1880’s outfits and children with them.
Finally after many attempts, a lady approached me close to the mirrors barrier and told me I could not come inside the mirror to play as it “wasn’t my time”. I had no clue what that meant.
The next week, in kindergarten class, my friend Anne asked the teacher if she could use the bathroom. As Anne got up from her chair to leave, I asked her to ask the lady in the bathroom mirror if I could borrow her brush as my hair was matted from recess. Anne looked at me like I was crazy.
I understood immediately that maybe I was the only one who saw those people in the mirror. So I kept my mouth shut about what I saw for a long time

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After many years working as a Trauma/Ortho RN, I retired from nursing and decided to pursue my passion, to pursue what I’m very good at. I see spirits in many dimensions and I’m a professional Fine artist with a Bachelors degree in Fine Art…so I combined the two and I draw all the souls gathered around the person I read for and relay their messages. The readee keeps the sketch.
Achieved a bachelors in Fine Arts at age 21 and worked during the 1980’s recession so it was quite difficult to make a living as an Artist…I had my own advertising design business and struggled for so long…decided to go back to college to graduate as a four year degreed RN, just like my sister, who was making money and traveling the world, and had great health insurance!
All the years I worked as an RN, I always saw energies or spirits surrounding my patients and I communicated with them too. When I worked in the Trauma Surgical ICU at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas…if I had one free moment, I would draw all the souls around my patients. Then take the drawing home to share with my husband.
It is unethical and immoral to talk to patients or their family members about all the souls I saw so the only person I could share these experiences with was and still is, my husband Frank.
I remember my very first patient in that ICU was a young adult male who was hit head on by a drunk driver. He was on a ventilator to breathe and multiple IV drips to keep his organs alive and functioning while he was in a medically induced coma. I literally watched his heart rhythm abruptly stop into asystole….cardiac stand still…I called a code out loud, thru a backboard behind his back, jumped on his bed and began chest compressions. As I’m doing compressions, my fellow RNs ran the rest of the code algorithm….I began to feel ice cold air above my head. Still performing chest compressions…I looked up and saw a large German Shepard dog head and four souls faces staring down at my patient! They were transparent however they were there. As I’m still doing chest compressions…and no one else is looking up at these spirits hovering above us…I look down at my patient and see his soul rise up out of his body….and his soul and the others souls shot thru the ceiling.
That was a profound moment to behold…as I understood that the soul lives separate from the body. I knew my patient had died and was not coming back. I could not and would never tell the patients family, what I witnessed. We were able to stabilize my patients heart…ten days later the family decided to turn off life support and my patient died.
On two other occasions, similar to the first patient….two of my patients went into cardiac arrest and actually survived the event. One of those patients soul actually rose up out of his body, flipped over, looked directly into my eyes and clawed his way back into his body.
After that patient was transferred to a step down unit, I visited him. I asked him to tell me what he saw, who he saw and what he experienced. He told me that he saw me looking directly at him and he’ll never forget it. He described seeing his father first, along with his beloved dog Max, who had passed, and other souls. He was told it wasn’t his time yet and to return to his body.  The second patient with similar circumstances also saw me looking at his soul hovering above his own body…and watched him claw back into his physical body. He described seeing his older brother Sam and his brother told him it was not his time yet.
In Dr.. Micheal Newtons books “Journey of Souls” and “Destiny of Souls”….I found powerful validation for what I witnessed as a Trauma RN.
Dr. Newton interviewed many patients that experienced NDE’s and he documented their words, what they saw, what they experienced. For anyone wanting to understand what happens when the soul leaves the body, I highly recommend these two books. Doing so will give you an in depth understanding what our loved ones see, hear, experience when they transition thru death.
After severely injuring my back as an RN, I left the profession. I wanted to continue to help people heal, and wanted to pursue being a professional artist again.
I googled the top psychic mediums in the DFW area and found Dr. Chuck Murphy..who has a doctorate in Metaphysics. I emailed him. He emailed me back within five minutes! I visited with Dr. Chuck twice a week for six weeks straight and completed his Zero-To-Psychic course…which he wrote and published his own textbook. Chuck has a beautiful effortless way of communicating directly with a persons soul…and he brought out my abilities to see, hear smell, intuit and FEEL others feelings and he helped me to remember how to communicate clearly with spirits from other dimensions.
At the end of six weeks, I finally told Chuck that I was a professional fine artist and he said..”then draw what you see for people”. Suddenly my path clicked together. To date I’ve given over 1,500 readings, in person and over many video platforms from home. I also travel to peoples homes to give readings.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Starting out answering this calling of reconnecting people with their loved ones on the other side was a daunting task. The only person I knew was Chuck. He told me about a Metaphysical shop in Lewisville called “Miracles of Joy”, that they held psychic fairs and employed mediums, healers, health practitioners.
I drove to the shop and met Tiffany Angel Garcia, the shop owner, Joy Kauf’s daughter. And another employee named Destiny Pyles. I had to read for them both, audition, to become one of their readers during their fairs. Tiffany, was so kind and relatable and put me at ease, because I was so nervous and put on the spot. I am truly grateful for Tiffany and Destiny for being so kind and encouraging that day.
About one year into working Joys psychic fairs, a new medium showed up to work the fairs, her name was Helen Watson. Helen walked right up to me and reached out her hand to say hello and I instantly felt I had found my metaphysical family. Helen intrinsically understood exactly who I was and what I saw, heard, and interacted with…souls in many dimensions. She is the same as me, she doesn’t draw what she sees, however she sees what I see. And she’s an expert and well known Astrologist, and Numerologist. Her mother is the famous Connie Watson, a medium/astrologist/
I made friends with many other mediums and healers and health practitioners during Joys fairs. Including Arthur Graye and Eloy…who now own their own shop in Southlake Texas, The Greenman Studios Shoppe. A beautiful magical shop that sells crystals and stones and sells some of my sculptures. Arthur is an intuitive empath, Reiki Master, hold Reiki shares, teaches many classes and is an incredible artist… he has a baccalaureate degree in photography and he sells prints of his photos taken all over the world in his beautiful shoppe. Eloy, his husband reads Lenormand Tarot for people during fairs.
These new friends made me feel at ease and helped me acclimate into working larger events in the DFW area.
Helen and I have the same work ethic, we want to help people heal. We do this by connecting them with their loved ones on the other side. For me, my favorite readings are when the persons pets come thru. I have a powerful ability to connect with both living and pets who have transitioned.
Helen and I have worked next to each other for the last ten years at many events throughout DFW.
We’ve both been invited to work in London England and Stockholm, Sweden, in the next two years.
Helens presence has given me much greater resilience to keep pushing thru and reading for people, we both do this for each other, there has been a few times when we ourselves had our own personal struggles and we’ve pushed each other to work anyway..remembering…. “Helping others heal is also helping us heal”….Helen told me this many years ago and it helps me tremendously during difficult times. Now I have a large group of metaphysical friends around me, and this helps greatly with the resilience to keep pushing thru.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Finding the right resources proved challenging in the beginning of answering this calling. After I auditioned to work at Miracles of Joy psychic fairs in Lewisville….I had a very hard time finding other events to work. So now when I see new mediums, healers, health practitioners in the same struggle, I reach out to them immediately and introduce them to the fair owners and aid their transition into helping people heal. I truly believe if there were more healers and mediums in the world, the world would be a better place.
It’s vitally important to help new up and coming mediums find fellowship with other mediums and find opportunities to work events. I am a great resource for new mediums and healers. After witnessing new mediums and healers work, and gaining insight from their readees, and they’ve gained my respect and live up to the ethic of delivering messages of healing or in the spirit of healing, I’m a fabulous resource.
Mentoring is a huge part of this work. I’ve mentored so many people to strengthen their own innate abilities to connect with spirits. What I do is definitely NOT a gift, it’s an ability that’s stayed strong because I never truly shut the door on it.

All my artwork is original and is rendered directly by me looking at the spirit visiting/posing for me. I am a clairvoyant…clear seeing medium. I sit and draw/paint/sculpt the soul that materializes before me and render what I see as fast as I can over multiple “spirit manifesting/posing sessions. These portraits take many months to complete as I’m at the mercy of when and for how long the soul chooses to materialize.
