We were lucky to catch up with Mari Maria recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mari, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
As an artist with a diverse skill set, I’ve always been drawn to creating art and nurturing plants. My deep connection to nature fueled my dream of one day owning a greenhouse. However, I found myself uncertain about how to turn these passions into a tangible venture.
Recognizing the importance of starting small, I took the leap and began laying the groundwork for my business. With each step, I gained clarity and confidence, eventually realizing that I could grow my enterprise from its modest beginnings into the greenhouse I had envisioned.
I was convinced of the viability of my venture because of the pressing reality of the climate crisis. In tackling this monumental challenge, I believe in the necessity of diverse solutions, each contributing in its own way to a collective response.
What sets my approach apart is the audience I aim to reach: individuals who, like myself, have a deep appreciation for street art. By targeting this demographic, I’m offering a unique perspective on addressing environmental issues, leveraging creativity and passion to inspire change.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The urgency of the climate crisis is what spurred me to enter this industry. I firmly believe that each individual plays a crucial role in steering us away from its destructive path. With this in mind, I am committed to doing my part every single day.
Initially, I questioned the impact of my individual efforts, pondering, “What difference can one person really make?” However, as an artist with a passion for plants, I found my answer: why not create eco-friendly products and aesthetically appealing plant pots to encourage others to embrace sustainable choices?
In addition to offering eco-friendly products, our platform also serves as a hub for staying informed about climate news and solutions. We aim to empower our customers by providing information on a range of climate-related topics, including products we may not offer but endorse for their sustainability.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Ensuring that every aspect of my business aligns with eco-friendly principles has proven to be quite the challenge. Here in California, accessing information about sustainable, recyclable, or reusable materials has been particularly tough. Growing up on the east coast, it was simpler to visit recycling centers.
After weeks of extensive research, I finally stumbled upon a promising lead. Despite the daunting task of considering every aspect of eco-friendliness, I recognize it as a necessary change.
The search for pertinent information can be disheartening at times, leading me to question whether it’s worth persevering. However, reflecting on the positive impact our efforts will have reinvigorates my enthusiasm. As a freelancer, I understand that beginnings are always the toughest.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My significant other also happens to be my co-founder and business partner. His support and insight have immensely facilitated the realization of our venture. Whenever doubts creep in or I feel overwhelmed, my business partner provide unwavering encouragement, reminding me of my capabilities.
Moreover, my partner has been instrumental in sourcing tools that enhance the efficiency and scalability of our business operations. As someone who tends to immerse myself in work, having a partner who shares the vision and contributes their own innovative ideas is both comforting and invaluable.
