We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Margot Escott. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Margot below.
Hi Margot, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I started improv when I was 60 years old and certainly wish I had learned it sooner! I love teaching improv for all kinds of diverse groups and use applied improv.
Margot, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
One of the things I”m most proud of is teaching students who go on and teach improv themselves! I work online so can meet folks around the world. As a former psychotherapist I teach improv for people with anxiety issues, relationship problems and for people with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. My company is called Improv4Wellness and I’m so excited to bring the gifts of improv to everyone I can!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
One of my main missions is to help brighten the lives of people with Parkinson’s. I was inspired to do this as my father had PD and I was his care partner for several years.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love the freedom of being a gig worker. I can usually make my own hours and if I need time off for self care-I can do it!
