We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Margaryta Irving a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Margaryta , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
The biggest risk itself was opening door to my first business
Margaryta , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, my name is Margaryta . I am owner of Vili’s Health Bar. I am foreign immigrant from Ukraine. I have opened up Vili’s during the pandemic. The hardest part of starting a business was to make that first step, to take a risk, be ready to make a big changes in my life. I quite my server job and promised myself that i wouldn’t go back there. I gave myself 2 months to come up with business idea and to start planning. It was tough as i didn’t have much savings and I was running out of cash. I knew I had to start a business that I am familiar with. Food and coffee always has been my passion and I was pretty good in customer service industry. I have moved to Ocean Beach and saw the opportunity right away. There was demand and this community has been really lucking place like Vili’s. Vili’s is a Health Bar that offers signature superfood coffee drinks, smoothies and bowls. We use superfoods in everything we offer. I am very proud that I took a risk and opened up business that makes people happy and healthy. I am very excited for the future for Vili’s. We are currently actively looking for second location. We want people to have more healthy options around San Diego.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
My Business partner is my husband. I met him in my shop. He loved our coffee so much that he got to be our usual customer and 1 month ago became my husband and co-founder of Vili’s :)
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Earlier before i quite my server/ restaurant job I met a great person. He loved the story of my life coming in USA with full of dreams and believes that anything is possible if you really want it. He believed in me and loaned me some money to start my business that I shortly after paid it all off.
