We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Margarita Robl-Masyukova a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Margarita, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe that success varies based on an individual’s goals, circumstances and personal definitions. While some associate it with meeting basic needs like buying a house, getting a dream car and starting a family with kids; others perceive it more deeply. I believe that each person’s definition of success deserves respect as long as it brings them happiness.
For me success means having a successful career, doing something differently compared to others, generating unique ideas and approaches that no one has ever tried before, setting up goals and transforming them into reality, generating different sources of passive income and travelling to some unique and remote places that not a lot of people have been to.
Going back to the question of what it takes to be successful, I believe that it is the ability to learn from mistakes and having the resilience to bounce back from failures. Perhaps you will fail 100 times before succeeding on your 101st attempt. Unfortunately, many people give up too soon without giving themselves enough time to grow. If only more people had persisted, we might have witnessed a surge in inventions and innovations.

Margarita, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a multilingual realtor who helps local businesses find suitable offices, stores, warehouses or manufacturing facilities. Recently, I’ve been helping several foreign companies in establishing their their presence in the US. While some of these companies have a clear goal of entering the US market, many are uncertain about where to start. That’s where I step in and provide guidance throughout the legal process and help them locate an ideal office or facility that meets their specific needs.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is that I am fluent in five languages and some of those foreign companies prefer to communicate in their native language for better understanding. My extensive travel experience has also allowed me to learn about the traditions and cultures of various countries which definitely enhances my ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with foreign companies.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Before entering the real estate industry, I ran a different business – an agency that provided models, interpreters and promotional models for fashion shows, trade shows and different types of events. My company even collaborated with the Miss Europe Continental International pageant. I successfully organized the Miss Europe Continental California 2019 beauty contest, where we selected a model to represent the state of California in Italy. The event was a great success and helped several models kickstart their careers. Unfortunately, when COVID hit and everything slowed down, my agency faced challenges. During that period, I realized the importance of remaining open to new ideas and opportunities. I came to an understanding that rather than relying solely on one job or source of income it’s essential to create multiple income streams. I am truly grateful for that experience as it helped to grow and learn valuable lessons from difficult circumstances.
