We recently connected with Margarita Minenko and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Margarita thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My passion for creativity began in childhood. I was an active child who loved to sing, dance, write stories, and create stage plays for my family. But I never imagined that this passion would one day grow into a professional career. That moment came when I was studying at university. By then, I was already deeply involved in dancing and taking part in television projects. However, my family faced financial difficulties and couldn’t support my education. That’s when I made the bold decision to go to China to pursue my dreams.
At first, I was studying remotely while also auditioning and performing. I eventually earned my MBA while building my artistic career. From 2015 to 2020, I lived and worked in China—touring, performing, and becoming a resident artist at the Grand National Theater in Changsha. I even headlined at the popular night club “Dr. Oscar” in Shanghai. That unforgettable experience affirmed that performing—especially singing and dancing—was not just a passion, but my true path.
From that moment on, my life was never the same. Today, I live in Los Angeles as a refugee from the war, still fighting for my passion and purpose as an artist. I graduated from 1500 Sound Academy in Inglewood, where I gained invaluable knowledge and skills. After that, I earned an internship, which eventually led to a job in the music industry. I now work as a studio assistant with well-known artists—and I’m excited to see what more lies ahead on this journey.
Margarita, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Margarita, but in the world of melody and rhythm, I go by INSHY—meaning “unique” or “different.” Hailing from the heart of Ukraine, I’m a singer, songwriter, and performer—but more than that, I see myself as a mission-driven artist.
My music represents my journey. I create cinematic experiences where each song feels like a scene from a movie or your favorite TV show. Every track is a visual story told through sound, designed to transport you and help you connect with different emotions, characters, or life scenarios.
What sets me apart is that I’m not just making music—I’m building worlds. I want listeners to feel seen, understood, and inspired through every beat, lyric, and vibe. That’s the mission behind everything I create.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My creative purpose is to unite people. I want to inspire, motivate, and build emotional connections through my work. Art has the power to remind us that we’re not alone. At the end of the day, it’s so important for people to feel understood—and that’s the energy I put into everything I create.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Society can support artists by investing in platforms that nurture creativity and make it accessible to everyone—not just those with resources or connections. That means more grants, open creative spaces, fairer pay, and real representation across media. It also starts with education—teaching people to value art not as a luxury, but as a core part of who we are as humans. When artists are empowered, the entire world becomes richer in culture, empathy, and innovation.
