We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Margarita Breton a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

At MBites, our mission is deeply personal and meaningful because it comes from a desire to create a positive change in the way people consume food. The idea of offering healthy frozen fast food emerged from recognizing the opportunity to provide convenient, nutritious options that weren’t widely available in the market. We saw that many “fast” or “convenient” foods lacked health benefits, so we were inspired to develop a better alternative—one that prioritizes both health and flavor.
We believe that food should nourish both the body and soul, and we want to provide our customers with options they can trust. Our mission goes beyond simply selling products; it’s about promoting a healthier lifestyle by offering real, authentic food. It’s meaningful because we understand the importance of giving families access to quick, delicious meals that they can feel good about serving.

Growing up, I often found myself inspired by the potential to create nutritious, convenient meals that could fit into busy lifestyles. This vision fueled our desire to establish a brand that would provide people with better choices, ultimately leading to the founding of MBites.
We specialize in healthy frozen fast-food products that are not only delicious but also made with the finest ingredients, free from preservatives. Our offerings include a variety of authentic meals that cater to busy individuals and families seeking quick yet wholesome options. How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Our initial venture began in California as C&B Craft Corporation, focusing on the import and distribution of handcrafted leather accessories. However, the pandemic in 2020 severely impacted our business, forcing us to reassess our direction. During this challenging time, we decided to explore another of our passions—food. This was the catalyst for the creation of MBites Foods.
We started by supplying our delicious meals to friends and family, and their positive feedback encouraged us to expand. We opened a retail location at Open Market OC in Santa Ana, California, where we showcased our offerings and received an enthusiastic response from the community.
Two years later, we relocated to North Texas, where we took the time to understand the local market and the opportunities available for businesses like ours. By the end of 2023, we officially relaunched MBites, and nearly a year later, we can proudly say that our arepas, the product we started with, have gained remarkable acceptance and established themselves as a leading gourmet item in their category.
This pivot not only allowed us to survive a challenging period but also enabled us to turn our passion for food into a thriving business. It taught us the importance of adaptability, resilience, and the value of staying true to our passions. We’re excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity to continue serving our customers with authentic, high-quality meals.


Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most defining moments of resilience in our journey occurred when we decided to relocate from California to North Texas. After initially launching MBites Foods, we faced numerous challenges, from adjusting to a new market to fine-tuning our products to meet local tastes and preferences.
When we first arrived, we encountered a steep learning curve. The food industry is highly competitive, and we had to adapt to new regulations, consumer expectations, and supply chain dynamics. There were times when it felt overwhelming, but instead of being discouraged, we viewed these challenges as opportunities for growth. We conducted extensive market research and actively sought feedback from our customers to ensure our offerings resonated with them.
One specific challenge was improving the quality and presentation of our arepas. We recognized that to stand out in the gourmet market, we needed to elevate both the taste and the visual appeal of our products. This meant experimenting with new recipes, sourcing higher-quality ingredients, and rethinking our packaging design. It was a rigorous process that required dedication and persistence, but our commitment to excellence drove us forward.
As a result of our hard work, our arepas have not only improved in quality but have also gained significant popularity among customers, establishing themselves as a leading product in their category.
This experience taught us that resilience is about embracing change, remaining adaptable, and being willing to learn from every obstacle we encounter. Change is the only constant, and when we cannot lead that change, the least we can do is adapt with ease to stay competitive and aligned with our values. It’s also important to mention that we utilize Lean Manufacturing tools to maintain high standards of quality and achieve a competitive level of productivity. Each challenge has strengthened our resolve and reaffirmed our passion for providing authentic, high-quality food. We are proud of how far we’ve come and excited about the future, knowing that our journey has equipped us with the tools to overcome any hurdles that may arise.
