We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marcus Martin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

One major risk I’ve taken as far as being a comic coming from Canton,Ohio is taking a risk and just jumping right into comedy because there weren’t any type of mentorship’s regarding comedy so I basically took a risk and just jumped right in and had to practice and perfect my craft by experience from each show

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Some of the things I would want potential clients, fans and followers to know about myself and my brand is that I am a clean comic who is very diverse as far as my audience and material. Which is also relatable regardless of your cultural background, my objective is to create a safe space to spread laughter and to make sure everyone enjoys the show to the point they’ll come back to see me perform again.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

My advice for someone building a presence on social media is to be consistent, and making sure you chose a brand and stick to that brand! For instance my brand is comedy so everything I post is consistent with my brand whether it’s a skit or a meme and you also have to make sure that you engage with your followers.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

A few things that helped me build my reputation within my market is being consistently funny every time I perform, showing professionalism, showing up on time and being reliable.
