Alright, Marcus thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
I feel like when asking friends and family to support you is not the correct way of doing business. Your target is bigger than them but I will say getting support from them is a plus. Shows love and gives motivation to keep pushing. Pricing does play a big part and if have family and friends who will pay Orginal Price then you will not run into certain situations that could possibly end friendships or family connections over Money. I draw the line when some come to me only looking for a deal or think I suppose to do something for free. When being an entrepreneur you have to stand firm regardless of who your doing business with.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My parents pushed me into Washing vehicles once saw how good I kept my vehicle clean. I’m in my 10th year and it takes hard dedication and skills to stay running. Creativity plays a big part because in slow season when weather changes, also does being Mobile and customer flow at shops slow down. I use Superior Products to detail vehicles, paint corrections, ceramic coating, engine cleaning, dying seats or floors, etc. Inventory wise I have my own cupholders, window towels, hanging airfresheners, spray scents, business shirts & hoodies to purchase. What sets me apart is that I don’t stop learning or being challenged when it comes to customer vehicles with mold, curb rash, paint chips or cracks, rim color change or even when it comes to bad smells in interior of vehicle. I’m most proud of my wife working next to me and the 4 Detailing Awards we have won since 2022,23,24 and now 2025. Shows growth and consistency. How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In business I had to pivot last year in 2024 when I lost my shop in October right before weather changed. Wasn’t planning on relocation. I don’t believe in dropping names or being negative in this situation. Just understand I learned my lesson because money wise things got low and the loyal customers I had I couldn’t service like wanted. Mobile vehicles kept breaking down so mentally I went through for 3 months straight but things definitely turned around once I got my new shop sometime in January.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped build my reputation within my market was being around like minded Bosses who understands what level I’m at and where I needed to be. Got the chance to see how they market and why. Plus I joined a networking platform called BNI.
