We recently connected with Marcos H. N. Rossi and have shared our conversation below.
Marcos H. N. Rossi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Since I was young, I felt I had good communication skills. Talking, speaking, teaching, and writing, all came naturally. Ideas and thoughts would just flow from my head to paper (or later, to a computer). But it was only later in my life, that I would feel the calling of writing my thoughts and stories and publish them. So today, I have to manage my time and efforts in a way that I’m able to take care of my regular work and family related duties, and still find a space to write.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m a Brazilian/American/Italian (yes, I have three nationalities) who has lived the last 18 years of my life in south Florida. I’m an Economist, Business Manager, Life-coach, teacher, and writer. I’ve always been very spiritualist and willing to help people with their struggles. So, when I decided it was time to give writing a chance, I thought that inspirational essays and stories would fit right in. Being also a history lover, adding a historic context to my story also felt natural. So, when I right my stories, I’m forced to do some research and always learn something new. Building a new plot and a new set of characters become a quite entertaining activity. In summary, my books usually leave a significant legacy to readers. They might inspire them, amuse them and, as a bonus, teach something about history without being tedious.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. I always aim to transform my readers, even if just a little. I want them to be different after they finish their readings. I want them to feel that, they too, can make a change in their lives for the better.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn to look at my sleeping issues in a different way. I used to wake up very early, without the need of an alarm clock. I still do. That used to bother me a lot. It would be a stress generator, since I would only think about my problems and work demands. When I decided to start writing, it didn’t take me too long to realize that the time I needed was right there, waiting for me. So I transformed a problem in a solution. A stress generator time into a creative, productive time.
