Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
In the quiet corridors of junior high, where imagination knows no bounds, I began writing short stories. Little did I know that these early short stories would lay the foundation for a remarkable literary journey. Fast forward to today, and my words have not only touched hearts but also graced bestseller lists and garnered International Impact Book Award.
Phoenix Heart,” my debut poetry collection, emerged from the ashes of personal struggle. Following a painful divorce, I found solace in poetry, transforming pain into beauty. The book resonated with readers, climbing to best seller in Love Poetry genre on Barnes & Noble. Its impact transcended borders, earning the prestigious International Impact Book Award.
In March 2024, “Reflections Rising” was released. This poetic sequel continued an exploration of love, relationships, and life. Once again, readers embraced my words, propelling the book to bestseller status. Conversations sparked by the poetry became intimate dialogues in regards to love, relationships, and life.
Now, I am embarking on a new adventure – “Gemini Echoes.” A romance mystery that centers around the identical twins sisters Haviland and Hadassah Cloud in the story their will dualities collide, secrets unravel, choices of heart will be made. I am excited for the release date in Fall 2024. I am also taking a leap into public speaking and will be hosting seminars locally for upcoming writers . The seminars will be geared at giving the steps to write and the steps to take to be successful in regards to book launches and advertising.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Non-creatives might find it hard to grasp the ebb and flow of inspiration. Creativity isn’t a faucet we can turn on at will; it’s more like dancing with an elusive muse. Sometimes ideas flood in, and other times we’re parched in a creative desert. It’s a delicate balance of patience and persistence.
Creating means baring our souls. Whether it’s writing, painting, or composing music, we expose our innermost thoughts and emotions. Non-creatives might wonder why we willingly subject ourselves to vulnerability. But therein lies the magic – vulnerability births authenticity.
Creativity often thrives in solitude. Non-creatives might not understand why we seek quiet corners, late nights, or solitary walks. But it’s in those moments that ideas bloom, characters whisper, and melodies emerge. Solitude isn’t loneliness; it’s our sacred cocoon.
This to me is the most important Non-creatives might not realize the battles we fight within – self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and the fear of inadequacy. Yet, we persist. We wrestle with blank pages, wrestle with our inner critics, and emerge stronger. Our victories are silent but profound.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is being able to create poetry/and or books that resonant with readers. Each book leads me to uncharted territories within myself . Each creation teaches me something new, pushing boundaries and nurturing personal growth. My poetry and books will live on through generations — leave a piece of me in the world after I am gone. Gift for my grandchildren, great- great grandchildren– etc. Hopefully inspire future generations to write.
