We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marcia Agius. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marcia below.
Marcia, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My incredible parents were the first people to show me the true meaning of giving, as they always gave from the heart without fanfare . They were generous and kind to everyone around them without ever expecting anything in return. I watched them give kindness to family members, friends and strangers throughout my life. One of my favourite stories was one time my dad went grocery shopping with 2 of my kids, they saw him run across the parking lot to help a pregnant woman with her groceries. She was so grateul to him for the helping hand. They talk about it as such a wonderful memory of how a simple act of kindness towards someone in need can brighten the day of both the giver and the receiver.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The mission of the Kindness Circle is to spread kindness to make a difference in the world. We believe that kindness is contagious and we are committed to building a community of compassionate individuals fostering a culture of empathy, generosity while making a tangible impact. We have 4 pillars to our movement, kindness to others, kindness to ourselves, giving back to charities and infusing creativity and joy to making kindness cool and fun. We have developed a hand signal that we hope will become the international symbol of kindness. Hand to the heart in the shape of a circle because kindness is infinite and has no end and costs absolutely nothing. This is used for showing acts of kindness: if you do an act of kindness, if you see an act of kindness or if you need an act of kindness. Let’s make kindness viral together!!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
This all started in 2021 when mostly everything I read or saw on the news was either depressing or negative. I was looking for a way to bring positvity into the world so I started an Instagram page called Inspire Always, on the premise that when women truly support other women, amazing things happen. And that they did….I was able to meet some incredible women willing to share their stories with vulnerabilty and authenticity. Through this journey I became a published author, a contributor to a magazine called Ask Us Beauty and most recently have partnered with the Positive Impact Project. I have collaborated with great humans and I have had the honour to feature over 450 fabulous women. Using social media to inspire others started off as passion project of love and now has turned into an amazing community of good humans. My advice to starting to build a social media presence woud be to step outside your comfort zone and follow your intuition. Progress is the way to achieve your goals so forget about waiting for things to be perfect. Do it messy! Look for things that bring you joy and lights you up, it won’t feel like work. You will find your people and community with common goals and interests. It can be hard but if you show up as your true self and shine your light into the world. The world just becomes a brighter place.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
At the beginning of my journey, there was no real goal but to add a little light and love into people’s lives. It has grown and evolved to be a movement of kind individuals together in community adding more kindess into the world. The truth is when I started my journey, I didn’t think I was inspiring and the community wanted to see the person behind the page. I wasn’t quite sure how to show up on social media authentically me so with the idea of less judgement and more kindness and in celebration of my 52nd birthday. I was inspired to launch a 52-week kindness challenge to the Inspire Always community. Every week we preformed an act of kindness to others or ourselves for 1 full year. This led to the birth of the Kindness Circle. The power of kindness was so incredible when we all came together. The ripple effect of these acts will go on far beyond anything we could ever imagine. In community we can accomplish a life filled with more happiness. Studies have found that acts of kindness are linked to increased feelings of well-being and we all can use a little more of that in our lives.
