We recently connected with Marci Dickerson and have shared our conversation below.
Marci, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
As a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, our business mission has always been to take care of the community that takes care of us. We strive to provide meaningful employment and goods and services to those that live and work in Las Cruces. We are proud that Dickerson’s Catering is celebrating it’s 25th year in business! Over our last 25 years, we have opened multiple businesses in the community and are very proud, not only of our catering company, but our three Game restaurants and our charity, Revolution 120.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Our brand is synonymous with hospitality in southern New Mexico. In our 25 years in catering, we have been honored to facilitate and participate in many of our community’s weddings, social, and charity events. With the expansion into our restaurants, we have been able to become an intricate part of our community’s everyday lives. We take our responsibility to community very seriously, which is the reason why we started our charity, Revolution 120, to assist those in need with goods and services that might not otherwise be available.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As many people in business, when the world shut down, all of our businesses came to a stand still. Instead of laying off our employees and going home, we pivoted and began responding to the needs of the community. We started with free kids meals when the schools closed, we then distributed food boxes and gave out over 60,000 pounds of food in Dona Ana County, we assisted the public schools with their deliveries of lunches, we kept our employees working and our community fed in times of need.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Over the 25 years that we have been in business, we have faced many challenges. Usually, those challenges involve a government entity that oversees us in some way, shape, or form. One of the hardest things in business is when you’re faced with adversity, to not only focus on solving the complications pertaining to that issue, but to also maintain your daily work and steadfast commitment to the future. Because often in life, it’s very easy to get caught up and focused on the situations that you find yourself in and only focus on the crisis. Instead, you have to be able to see beyond the crisis and continue your daily business operation while looking to the future despite the chaos.
