Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marchele Kimbrough. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Marchele, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew for the first time I wanted to pursue makeup artistry professionally in 2020 after I completed a client and saw her initial reaction to her enhancement. Her reaction meant so much more than an enhancement as she stated how much more beautiful she felt and seeing herself enhanced made her jumpstart the journey back to her old self as she had lost “her” some time ago. From that moment, I knew that I wanted to aid in that same moment with as many people as I possibly could. Life throws us many challenges and can make us feel inadequate, less attractive and can cause our self-esteem and view of ourselves to plummet. I’ve made it my goal to let each one of my clients know how beautiful they are naturally and I’m just enhancing a beautiful canvas. I’m absolutely nothing without their faces!
Marchele, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a professional makeup artist who specializes in soft, natural glam looks which enhances the natural beauty. I take pride in providing professional artistry that displays the unique characteristics of each one of my clients. It is my heart’s desire to create a memorable and everlasting experience for each one of my clients. In 2018, I took a serious interest in makeup including techniques and proper application. I began to do applications on myself and post them to Facebook and Instagram just for fun. I began to receive inquiries concerning services but at times I can very much be an introvert. I one day received an offer to begin an internship here locally and my mentor pushed me to move past the shyness and “introverted-ness” surrounding my artistry. Thanks to her, my family, and my best friends, I am now the makeup artist you see today.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’m often asked the question, has it been a smooth road? No. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. Over the course of the years, I have struggled with insecurities surrounding my artistry but I have come to understand I am not everyone’s artist and my gift is indeed my gift that I gracefully and humbly accept from God. I’ve learned in a short time that comparison can definitely hinder your artistry. Artistry is unique, complex, and beautiful much like people.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal in this journey is to create a platform for women and men to be free. My mission is to remind every person who experiences my artistry to leave with a renewed sense of themselves. To let them know they are beautiful, valued and worth every good thing this life has to offer. There are enough things in this world to attempt to discourage us on life’s journey, why not use my gift to uplift others.
