We recently connected with Marcela Will and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcela, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I arrived in Colorado from Chihuahua, México, in 2019 with the aspiration of pursuing the “American Dream.” My original plan was to work hard for a few years and then return to my homeland to embark on a new business venture. However, God had other plans in store for me. I initially found myself working in positions typical within the Latino community upon arrival in the USA, starting off in the cleaning industry and eventually transitioning to a cashier role at a Mexican restaurant.
Although I had studied English throughout my life, I lacked the practical experience to engage in fluent conversations. Nevertheless, I dedicated myself to improving my English skills as much as possible during my time at the restaurant. It was during this period that I met my now-husband, who is entirely American and had no knowledge of Spanish. His presence served as a catalyst for further enhancing my English proficiency.
In 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, I became pregnant and decided to leave my job a few months before giving birth. The pandemic placed significant strain on us; with my husband being the sole breadwinner, life became increasingly challenging.
Having always been inclined towards taking risks and with a longstanding desire to establish my own business, I felt compelled to take action in 2021. Witnessing my husband’s tireless efforts and burden prompted me to seek ways to contribute to our finances. Faced with the decision between returning to restaurant work (committing 40 hours a week and enrolling my baby in daycare, which would nearly offset my earning) or venturing into something that would allow me to be a SHM while also assisting financially.
Opting for the second option meant embarking on the daunting journey of entrepreneurship. I deliberated extensively, conducted thorough research, and ultimately settled on the idea of specializing in party decorations and crafts, a field I had always been passionate about.
Upon discussing my aspirations with my husband, he offered his unwavering support, encouraging me to pursue my dreams. Thus, I made the monumental decision to invest our entire savings into launching a new business, an endeavor situated in a foreign country, conducted in a language different from my own, and devoid of any familial or industry connections.
Fortuitously, I encountered incredible individuals who provided invaluable assistance along the way. Initially recognized for my Marquee Letters Rental, particularly in proposals, later on my proficiency in balloon work gradually improved. Presently, I oversee a thriving company specializing in custom designs, event rentals, and luxury balloons.
It’s important to acknowledge that every day in this industry entails taking risks. We operate in a sector that caters to luxury rather than necessity, which inherently limits our client base. Consequently, we must constantly strive to differentiate ourselves through uniqueness and creativity, often investing in new inventory without certainty of its return on investment.
I am profoundly grateful for the unwavering support that Maroli Craft Events has received, and at times, I find it surreal to contemplate how far we’ve come. In closing, I wish to impart the age-old adage: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

Marcela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Marcela Will, and I am a 30-year-old Mexican woman, proud wife, and mother of a beautiful 3-year-old daughter and 4-month-old twin boys. Since childhood, I’ve been a big dreamer, always harboring the ambition to start my own business. In 2021, as my husband became the sole provider while I cared for our baby at home, the pandemic imposed significant challenges on our family. Faced with this reality, I embarked on the formidable journey of entrepreneurship after much contemplation and deliberation.
I found my niche in specializing in party decorations and crafts, an area I’ve always been passionate about. Thus, the journey of Maroli Craft Events LLC began. Initially gaining recognition for our Marquee Letters Rental service, particularly in proposals, I honed my skills in balloon artistry over time. Today, we have evolved into a company specializing in custom designs, event rentals, and luxury balloons. At Maroli Craft Events LLC, our vision is to enhance special moments, infusing them with a touch of magic to create memories that endure a lifetime.
We are deeply committed to delivering the highest quality and experience to our clients. Our dedication lies in infusing each event with uniqueness and personalization. Whether it’s a simple custom sign or an entire personalized event, Maroli Craft Events offers a wide range of services. Fortunately, our extensive vendor network enables us to fulfill every aspect of our clients’ visions.
I pride myself on being a problem solver, possessing the ability to think quickly and find solutions to last-minute challenges—a skill essential in this line of work. It’s gratifying to witness the growth of Maroli Craft Events, particularly as we expand our services to cater to more exclusive clientele and major corporations. What started as a modest dream is now a thriving reality, and each day brings new opportunities for growth and success.
