We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marcela Cavazos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marcela, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Since I was a kid I was fascinated about natural stones and their colors, hues, textures and natural properties. I also loved art work, how artists could make a master piece with some colors put into a canvas or sculpture.
When I started my business I was thinking in a name that could reach all of that.
Piedra&Art

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Marcela Cavazos I’m from Monterrey, Mexico
I’ve been living in US since 2001 and I love it it’s my second home.
I’m married with two kids my family is everything for me and they have been always very supportive.
Since I was a kid I was fascinated with natural stones and their colors and their natural properties and how they looked when you put it on.
In 2017 I started Piedra&Art jewelry with the idea of bringing different jewelry where you could find unique designs inspired by nature, colors, trends and cultures. Our pieces are design and hand crafted with collaboration of Mexican and local artists. We work with mixed metals and semiprecious stones resulting in unique pieces and statement jewelry, versatile for every occasion.
Then I started working on my website
www.piedraandart.com which it was a challenge for me and still is because it always takes me out of my comfort zone.
I’m not really a very technological person and I’m still learning and trying to do my best.
Then I started to introduce other products into Piedra&Art such as a Mascara for eyelashes called Aruma Mascara it’s produced and handcrafted in Mexico with all natural ingredients it’s just the right thing for amazing eyelashes longer, fuller, thicker, stronger and more beautiful and it’s waterproof with super definition.
You can also find it at www.piedraandart.com
For me putting on makeup and putting outfits together it’s an art.
I have always thought that there is something powerful about putting on amazing jewelry and a great mascara.
My priority are always my customers and I try to give them best service and quality and my best reward it’s when I see them happy wearing Piedra&Art jewelry and Aruma Mascara and they share it with other people.
Right now I’m focus and still working in growing my business step by step with much love making the right connections and getting more people to know about Piedra&Art.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Before started Piedra&Art I started selling on a multi-level company to make money to start my own business.
And I’m so thankful because I also met people and learned a lot from them during that time.
I started with not so much money and with just a few pieces of jewelry showing them to my closest friends who have been very supportive as well and I’m thankful for that too.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think for me, quality, customer service and creativity it’s been crucial for building reputation. And still working on that. Satisfied customers had attracted new customers.
