We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marc Rocheleau a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marc, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I spent my youth on the waters of Cape Cod fishing and digging for clams in Falmouth’s Great Pond, down the road from my Mother’s house. I found that there was a demand for clams and decided to start a small business with a truck and a boat. Soon after, I met my wife Sue, who was a single Mom of two kids. We moved our family to Chatham and took the chance of growing the business. Chatham was the place to be if you were a clam digger on Cape Cod. In 1995, not even a year later, we moved back to Falmouth and opened up The Clam Man retail and wholesale store at its location today. In 2008, we rebuilt the building and started growing our retail business.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We started promoting our business on social media back in 2019. SocialsbyV (https://www.socialsbyv.com/) took our pages to the next level shorty after. Veronika and her assistant Gabbie post to our pages and stories daily. The key to a successful page is to be consistent and have a strategy behind your posts.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients has been word of mouth. We focus on providing our customers with both quality and service in the retail and wholesale sections of the business.
