We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marc L.. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marc below.
Marc, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I would say that my most meaningful project would be upcoming album “Phase 1”. For years I trained myself to find my own sound instead of trying to sound like other artists. This album is raw and authentic. It feels like I’m finally releasing what was bottled up inside of me my whole life! This journey has been life changing. Download my album “Phase 1” on all platforms on March 1, 2023.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I initially was inspired by my great grandfather, Robert “Squirrel” Lester, of the Chi-Lites group. I eventually started doing musical theater around 9 years old. From there I began writing my music around 11 years old. Ever since then I’ve just been writing more music and perfecting my craft. I’m most proud of my motivation and drive to get my music out into the world. I continue to have obstacles as an artist but I never stop. I think what sets me apart from other artists is the fact that mix and master my music from my iPhone and it still sounds professional. My unique voice and tone also set me apart because it’s very versatile. I can do any genre that I choose.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goals that are driving my creative journey would have to be to get my music out on platforms. I have a full catalogue of music that is not released and releasing my unreleased on streaming platforms music has been so amazing to me. It’s great to see my catalogue on platforms. I would also say that another goal that has been driving this journey is to collaborate with some of my favorite artists in the industry. This includes Beyonce, Chloe Bailey, Jazmine Sullivan, Billie Eilish, Adele and many more. I feel that I am just as talented as these artists and I’m only getting better, these artists motivate me everyday. I see so much of myself in them. Most importantly a goal that’s been pushing me is for the world to hear my music and relate to it. I always write in a universal style because I want people to be able to relate and have a song to match their individual stories.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is seeing the growth in my music. If you listen to my EP “Percipient” that I released in April 2021 and my upcoming album “Phase 1” releasing this coming March, you can hear the difference in style and the maturity in my voice. It’s been amazing to hear how much I’ve grown.
