We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marc Feinberg a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Marc, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career
Growing up as a kid in New York City after my father got divorced to my mother, I made up stories about that experience. My daddy didn’t love me, it was my fault that my daddy left my mother, and those negative disempowering stories are what shaped my belief systems about who I am at a very early age. I found Freedom in a three-day workshop at 30 years old and I’ve been on a personal growth and development journey ever since, so much so that I’ve spent my career coaching some of the highest achieving athletes and entrepreneur of all time, athletes like the four-time heavyweight champion in Evander Holyfield, the two-time heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, the Olympic gold medalist Henry Tillman, Miami Marlins Coach Jesus Merchan, Golf legend Robert Karlsson, and so many others. I know what it’s like to be a troubled team. As a parent, I understand what it feels like having a troubled teen. My daughter Danielle many years ago went through her challenges, and I helped her to break free from her painful past mistakes. Traditional education provides our teens with information, but they fail to help our teens to master their thoughts, change their beliefs, and transform their lives. Information does not equal transformation, nor will it ever! I am on a mission to transform the lives of 5 million teens over the next 10 years.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Marc Feinberg, and I am an author, speaker, and biblical life coach. My first career was in the wholesale produce business 22 years in the fruit business and my nickname…well they called me the BIGFRUIT ☺. I sold that business and retired in my early 40s but, in the crash of 2008, I started a debt solutions company called Crown Financial Solutions, which became more of a ministry, as I helped marriages heal and couples stay together. I helped families to stay in their homes and fight foreclosure defense and overcome hundreds of millions of dollars in credit card debt. During that season in my financial solutions company, I started coaching business owners because many of my debt solutions clients owned small businesses and they needed help. I sold that business seven years later in 2016 and I’ve been on a personal development trajectory, helping athletes and business owners for the last dozen years. Just recently the past year, I have shifted almost all of my energy to raising up this next generation of teens to be world changers and thought leaders. I help Teens to unlock their full potential and dominate their life after participating in the Teen Mastery 3-Day Workshop. My company is called “The Dream Teen Academy” located in Palm Beach Gardens Florida.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am currently in a pivot and changed of trajectory right now at the age of 60 years old. I want to finish well and complete the work that God has given me, and I believe that the last 40 years as an entrepreneur has prepared me for such a time as this. Although I never did dream of working with teens, I now have a burning desire to raise up this next generation, especially with all of the challenges and pain they are facing in this world. I have five children and two bonus children that would make seven children in total, and two of those children are 16 years old. I see the challenges that they are facing, the pressures that they endure from their peers, and the distractions in the world today are greater than they’ve ever been. If any of our readers are facing a moment of pivot in their life, I can assure you that no matter what the challenge or situation, your entire life has prepared you for this very moment.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Wow… This is a loaded question and I’m happy to respond. The lesson that I had to unlearn in my life was “that it was OK to be wrong and I do not have to be right”. The number one addiction in the world is being right and that’s how we survive our life by being right. The problem with being right is that most of us are trying to be right about all the wrong things. We think the way that we view life the way that we view our business the way that we view our teens, our families, our friends, our health.
I stopped being right about all the wrong things because they were not serving me and I started being right about all the right things the things that would empower, inspire, motivate, and help me to ascend and evolve and grow into the man God wanted me to become, a man just like Him, with character just like Christ. Today I’m happy to be wrong about all the wrong things that I think are right and I’m happy to humble myself because I’m open to the possibility that there are other ways to live beyond what I think is right.
