We recently connected with Marc Edward Winer and have shared our conversation below.
Marc Edward , appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I took my first risk after working for other skincare companies opening my own solo skincare office I went from one room and 5 years later opened two rooms and 5 years later opened three rooms so I could offer more facials and rented the other rooms out but it became too much to manage then I simplified and went back to one facial treatment room and one skincare product retail room .
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I became a licensed esthetician 25 years ago in 1998 after graduating Yamamoto beauty college and from there worked for my first day spa , then went on to work for a hotel spa and then a medical spa and then after working for numerous doctors took skincare ingredient classes and launched my own product line and opened my own skincare spa office which is now located on the world famous sunset strip .
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During covid my business still thrived I only saw one person a day to disinfect everything before taking a client the next day but I was able to see 7 clients a week which was still 28 clients a month until the restrictions were lifted and I wore face masks and gloves during each facial which I still do as it is much more hygenic for my clients during there facial sessions
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I would definitely choose being a licensed esthetician which is a professional skincare therapist who performs facials and peels and face massage and using facial machines to beautify the skin . My career was kind of chosen for me when someone just suggested I get my esthetician license and so I did 25 years ago .
