Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marc Coqmard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Marc thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
Some of the most important lessons I learned came when I was working at Soho Beach House as a beach attendant back in high school. That’s where I really learned about sales and, more importantly, listening to the customer. LISTEN HARDER and take a second to understand . Once you actually tune in to what someone needs, you can figure out how to help them—and that naturally leads to sales.
Sales has a nuance to it. You’re not just trying to get somebody to hand you money, you’re actually helping them solve a problem. You don’t need to feed people a bunch of jargon or over-explain your product, because that usually makes them less interested. Most of the time, it’s just about having a real conversation and understanding how what you’re offering fits into their life.
The other thing I took from that job was the right mindset through uncomfortable work. The work itself was hellish—hot sun, Miami humidity, sand everywhere (used to dump mounds of sand out of my shoes after a shift lol) —but being able to stay present, crack jokes, and have good conversations with random people made it smoother. It also helped me learn a lot about people. Those qualities still shape how I move through my career today.
Working at Flight Club taught me another one: there’s no shortage of money in the world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Reconstruct Visual Arts Lab is the production company I have been able to start building with a group of passionate friends whose growth I’ve been able to watch firsthand. We’re kicking things off with projects in the commercial space, aiming to blend taste with business acumen. The goal is to hit that middle ground between strong visuals and business needs—whether that’s photography, video, or creative consultation. We’re artists, but with a heightened sense of what elevates a brand’s visual messaging without losing sight of the fact that visuals need to convert—whether that’s sales or leads. That balance is something I’m most proud of. As artists, we all need to flex our business skills more which is the crux of the business.
My own journey started with random film photography shoots, then moved into digital photography, videography, music videos, and even visual effects. Now I’m building out a production company to create something sustainable for myself and my peers. Back then, I was just running around Miami shooting photos of friends/artists , then their brands—Grimace Art Projects, Filthy Project, whatever events were happening, especially in the underground music scene. That curiosity naturally pushed me to experiment more, pick up new skills, and figure out what I was really doing. A lot of it was trial and error, sleepless nights, and undercharging—questioning if any of it even made sense. I personally am reaching more into experimentation as an artist and creative control to actually dig into my own emotions and ideas to create more focused pieces because I feel that with the amount things being constantly pumped in front of us daily – you have to take a second to not get caught up in all the noise and “references”; instead use my intuition and taste to align with what I want to create for myself to show the world.
That was over the past two to three years. Now, after being on film sets, watching other creatives do exactly what I want to do, and booking more gigs, I’ve built a stronger understanding of how to actually push forward. Not just creatively, but logistically—how to deliver quality without burning out. That exposure led to education. My aim is always to innovate visually while staying authentic to my vision or the client’s. Consistency—showing up and pushing my knowledge forward every day—is how I get there. And in this craft, there’s always something new to learn. The more I learn, honestly the less I truly know due to the vastness of the field , but seeing progression through the years has been a blessing.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Consistently putting out working that was better than the last project is the most important thing to me. Seeing a constant upward angle on my work is what helps solidify my reputation. I am completely ok with axing a project if I feel that it does not represent my standard well. I also believe willingness to compromise with who I am working with cause whatever choices you are making are to best serve the project. There is no ego in good design or creation – whoever has the best idea should be listened to ; I don’t care if its the pizza delivery guy.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The end product is usually not what was the initial vision was. During the planning and execution, the ideas usually tend to grow and elevate leading to something amazing that includes things that were not apart of the initial vision. Ideas and execution have their own flow leading to something new, bigger than what you thought if you allow it flow naturally. Always amazing because you are seeing something come from your brain and thin air into something that can be seen or even made physical which is honestly insane.
