We recently connected with Marc and Meghan Betourney and have shared our conversation below.
Marc and Meghan , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
Even before the business started, we were involved in the animal rescue community. Our pets are all rescues and it is a cause near and dear to our hearts. It was a natural fit to give back 10 percent of all sales to local animal organizations. Every two months we work with a different local animal organization or rescue and donate sales from those two months back to these hardworking organizations. Our mission is Beer to Biscuits-Kitchen to Community.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
In early 2018, we combined their passions for good brews, the environment, and animal causes to create Craft Canine Treats. When you buy Craft Canine Treats, you can feel good about giving your furry friends all-natural ingredients and partnering with us as community-loving, socially conscious consumers. A portion of all profits from Craft Canine Treats goes back to animal groups to support our good work in our Tampa Bay community. From our packaging to the grains from local breweries, we believe in recycling and upcycling. Hand in hand with the community and paw in hand with our pets- We’re all in this world together. Sourced in the sunshine state. Crafted with care.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
We are ourselves and do not pretend to be something we are not. We are a local couple who love dogs, love baking, love local craft beer and just enjoy what we do. That authenticity is seen in the relationships that we build with our retailers, customers and the community.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
We met back in 2012 at a pool party and the rest is history so to speak. Many people think that it was Meghan’s idea to start the business since she is the more outgoing one, however, it was Marc’s. Marc has an entrepreneurial spirit and is not afraid to take chances. Throughout the life of our business, we naturally fell into our different roles and gravitated towards each of our strengths while continuing to encourage each other and grow the business.
