Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maraya Hall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Maraya , appreciate you joining us today. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
Once I started I just loved it and kept going
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Basically, I do social media so I get paid to make content and I also get paid to promote other people’s product.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
When I started doing social media, I eventually made a video of that extremely viral. After that I kept going, and in a short amount of time, a hair company reached out to me to do a collaboration with them. That was my very first ever collaboration.. after that one collaboration it’s never stopped and it’s been three years since. I love my job. I love what I do there’s ups and downs
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
When I first started, I didn’t know much about the game so I didn’t even charge anybody for promotions and companies. They all took advantage of me. I was doing extremely good on social media and going viral with every video. Extremely Viral, over 1M views a video. Months later, I started charging them only $30 for 3 videos Doing so much hard work and they were making so much money off of me. I realized that it wasn’t enough. I tried up charging and it worked, but I didn’t charge that much. I didn’t know that other creators like me charging people $1000 plus for videos. By the time I noticed that that’s what they were doing. My view started going a little lower so I couldn’t even charge them that much and I missed out an opportunity. But no one ever told me. Now I’m charging the most that I’ve ever charged before, but I’m getting the least amount of views that I’ve ever done before so I just feel like it’s very unfair for me
