We recently connected with Manuela Obas and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Manuela thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

The most significant projects I worked on this year were “The Fights Within Podcast In DA Streets” and our yearly “Dear Women’s Luncheon”. The Fights Within IN DA Streets Podcast covered a wide range of subjects,  and it was my first time hosting an interactive program with a live studio audience. I teamed up with a local restaurant here in Houston, “Quotes Willowbrook” to host this amazing event with my co-host Taiese L. Nevels, and friends.

This year’s “Annual Dear Women’s Luncheon” had a “Cancer awareness theme” to bring people together in support of those battling the disease, honor those who have triumphed, and raise awareness of the importance of early detection. This project was especially important to me because my only sister is battling stage 3 breast cancer. As her caregiver, I seen her struggle and endure chemotherapy, weight loss, and post-mastectomy discomfort. I was even more determined to host this significant gathering in my sister’s honor, and the honor of cancer patients and survivors in general. Thanks to the perseverance and support of my co-host, Taiese L. Nevels, my family, and many others, the 2022 Dear Women Cancer Awareness Luncheon was a success. We are looking forward to holding the event again next year.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?

I am Manuela Obas, also known as The Fights Within, a servant of God, and all I do is share my life’s journey on various platforms in hopes of inspiring, uplifting and empowering others. I am the way I am now because of my journey, my life story, the way I’ve chosen to live, and how I’ve responded to God’s call on my life have all shaped who I am today.

Although I always believe I was destined for greatness and that I was called to be different, it took me a long time to feel confident in my own skin and fearlessly pursue my life’s purpose.  The concept for “The Fights Within” was first  developed in 2014,  but I didn’t take the necessary steps to make my dream a reality until September 2019.  Some people said, “I wouldn’t be anything”. But God had other things in store for me. Two years later, I’m still using “The Fights Within brand” to fulfill my mission, utilizing various platforms, stepping outside of my comfort zone, and remaining obedient in my faith walk with God. This enables me to make a difference in people’s lives.

I firmly believe that every obstacle I have face up until this point has helped me become the person God intended me to be. These include being an author, preacher, speaker, event planner, radio host, podcaster, and dear woman creator.

Author: My first book, “The Fight Within,” was published in October 2019. In September 2021, my second book, “Dear Woman,” was released as a co-author with nine other amazing ladies. Together with Taiese L. Nevels, I co-wrote my third book, “Healing the Woman Within Journal,” which will be released in November 2022. Amazon.com offers all books for purchase.

Podcast Host: Along with Taiese L. Nevels and Samuel McGee, I co-host the weekly podcast show “The Fights Within” on Facebook and other social media platforms. The podcast’s aim is to continuously empower, transform, and renew the lives of the audience by inviting guests from various walks of life who share their real life experiences, struggles and victories.  It also served as an inspiration to listeners to keep going in their life’s journeys and have faith in God’s plan. On November 14 at 7 p.m., I will also host another interactive live podcast at “Quotes Willowbrook.”

Dear Women Project: It is a community that is dedicated to uplifting and enhancing the lives of women. Every year, we offer a women’s luncheon with the goal of empowering, restoring, and completely transforming the woman so that she fulfill her God-God-given purpose.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Helping others and leaving a lasting impression on as many people as I can is my life’s mission. The number of possessions or accomplishments I have does not influence my motivation. My gift is to encourage people to strive for greatness while maintaining a servant attitude.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

The journey hasn’t been easy; in fact, it’s been really difficult- but I’m thankful to God for all of his blessings since, after two years in business,  “The Fights Within brand” has achieved success. I want to  Encourage everyone reading this to maintain trusting in the plan and purpose God has for their lives.  Keep focused on the direction God has given you, and quit seeking to other people to validate your life’s work.

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Proverbs 3:5, which says, “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding. This verse serves as a continual reminder to me that anxiety or fear have no place in my relationship with God. It continuously reassures me that if I put my faith in God, his word, and the process he is guiding me through, the outcome will always exceed my expectations.

Last but not least, I want to express my gratitude to my family and friends for the unwavering support throughout the journey God has put me on thus far. Without them these achievements would not have been possible. I am excited to see what God has in store for me and look forward to His plan and promise for me.
