We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Manuel Ceniceros. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Manuel below.
Manuel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about one of the craziest things you’ve experienced in your journey so far.
I have so many crazy stories. From having my cameras stolen the day before a big shoot to getting a call from a German news magazine to head to Mexico City because of a major earthquake in 1985. With the stolen equipment I had to run down to the rental house while my client had to wait. Nothing else I could do.
For Mexico City I had to jump on a plane and shoot for 10 hours and hop on a plane to LA to get my film to New York and then Paris, then Germany.
The most important thing is to stay lose and be ready for anything.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started out as a mathematician. Yeah, I know. From there I got into photo journalism. I did that for several years. I then became a fashion photographer. I worked for designers and modeling agencies.
From there I became a graphic designer. Because of that I started doing some video editing and motion graphics.
I still do photography whenever I get the chance.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal has always been to have fun and make cool stuff. I love doing what I do. What else do you need. To me there are no small projects. You give your best on everything.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being a creative can be very scary. You w Wake up in the morning and you have to be creative no matter what.
But then there’s a moment when it all comes together. You start out with a blank page and all of the sudden something special happens. You have this beautiful finished product that the client loves. And you can breathe again.
