We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful MANUEL!. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with MANUEL! below.
MANUEL!, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I would say my mixtape “Runnin’ a Loop” is the most meaningful project that I have out. When I started the process of creating the album I was kind of in a dark place mentally. I was trying to balance all the struggles of growing my career and dealing with life all at once. Every song on that tape has a very special place in my life. Especially looking back and seeing the finished product. Every song pinpoints an experience I had in my recent years. The song “Chalk It Out” is very important to me because it was a way of me accepting what is to come. It is a healing process for me more than anything. And it just happens to sound good which is a plus.
MANUEL!, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those of you who don’t know who I am.. ITS MANUEL! I am a artist from Ogden, Utah. Born and raised. I started creating when I was around 14. I knew I wanted to get into the music scene but I didn’t know where to start. After a while of organizing loops on my phone, I met my now manager, Grap3z. He gave me my first actual music production software called “FL studio 11” back in 2020. He has been a huge play in my career as he has helped me turn into the artist I am today. But the creative side I always kept personal. The love for music is what motivates me to get up every day. So yes it is very personal. I sit in my room for hours coming up with a verse or a melody. I wont stop until I get it how I want it. I am currently working on my new mixtape. With this project I want to reach a community of people who feel lost. Who feel like they have no one. Who find it hard to stay motivated daily. I want them to know that they are not alone and there is always someone there for them and they have a glow that no one else does, simply by showing up for yourself every day. Tape drops in the next couple months.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Good question..one resource I wish I took advantage of earlier was networking. You can have all the talent in the world but have a slim chance to make a career off of it if you don’t network. Going out and meeting new people is the best thing you can do if you are a creative, you get different insights, different point of views, different experiences. We all can learn from each other. I cant stress that enough. When generations fight over whos better or whos worse, I find it pointless, we are all individuals. Not one person is like someone else. I would say the best resource is to look figure out yourself and learn from everyone else. You can take that outside the music world, just figure out yourself and a lot of your problems will go away.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Its all rewarding for me. From writing a good verse to getting on stage for my fans. I love it all and it all fuels my fire to keep going. But one that will always bring the most joy is when I finish a song, I don’t have a big team when it comes to creating the music. I engineer, write, and produce most of it myself. So it takes a while for me to finish a song simply because of that but when I see the finished product.. there’s nothing like it. There’s nothing like having a thought and bringing it to life. I have also grown a community of fans that are there for me and have grown with me. There is truly nothing like it.
