We recently connected with Manolo Alayeto and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Manolo , thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve had a long life relationship with music. It’s part of who I am. The piano was my first love. Then came singing, playing the guitar, the ukulele, percussion and so on. I fell in love with songwriting while studying music in college and that’s when everything clicked. “Man, what if I switch majors and take on sound engineering?” Best decision I ever made. Here’s where Amped comes in. Our flexible way of teaching allows us to engage each client by tailoring our lessons according to their goals. We have some clients who want to learn an instrument for personal and therapeutic purposes, whilst others want to learn how to compose their own music and make their own productions, and everything in between. This is what makes Amped so great. We are versatile, growing and evolving.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sure thing. My name is Manolo, thank you so much for having me.
I always had an interest for music and the arts, It’s in my DNA. My father plays the piano and sings, my aunt was a concert pianist and my grandfather was a phenomenal singer. I studied music in college before changing majors to sound engineering. I wanted to be able to bring my songs to life, so I needed to learn about recording. It’s a whole different animal. I gigged around Florida for a while and got my big break when I was invited to perform at The White Nights Music Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia.
While in Russia, I met some wonderful artists and agents and we got to work right away. That momentum lead me to start collaborating and producing music for many phenomenal artists, such as Julio Iglesias Jr. I had the opportunity to work with him on a beautiful album titled “Timeless” as well as tour with him all over the globe. Then came Covid.
During the pandemic, I came up with the idea of opening a music performance school that catered to our clients wants and needs and not another “one size fits all” music school doing the same cookie cutter, outdated, boring program.
We all learn differently and have different goals.
Connecting with our clients and understanding their wants and needs is the basis of our program. Whether is an instrument, vocals, songwriting, music production, becoming a recording artists, learn public speaking, we got you.
Watching our clients grow, evolve, and become more confident and having that “aha” moment is such a satisfaction. I feel like a proud parent on a school play. That’s where things really get interesting.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
While the younger clients might say is the “yummy snacks and nice smelling rooms” I believe our empathy, personal touch and passion for what we do is what set us apart. A subpar instructor can make someone go “ugh” and run for the hills. Every one of us here at Amped loves and understands the importance of music in our lives and mental health. We make sure you come in with a smile and leave excited come back for your next session.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth has definitely been our best source of new clients.
